What was your first period like after a miscarriage?

Exactly that really.
I’m having my first period after a miscarriage.

I had the last of the pregnancy tissue surgically removed on the 21st of Feb.

I then got a positive ovulation test on the 9th of March so was expecting a period around the 23rd March.

I started spotting on the 20th March and then woke up to a light bleed on the 22nd March but it was quite stringy and not really a proper flow.

Then it started drifting of yesterday and today was barely anything and now all of a sudden I’ve had a gush of dark red/brown.

Is this to be expected. Was your first period after a miscarriage unusual and different to why you were used too?

Hey @magicalcreatures. Currently also having my first since surgical management and it’s similar.... weird. Usually have really heavy periods but this one is like a whole day of nothing then suddenly bleeding then nothing again. I was preparing myself for a horrendous one so kind of glad I guess... xx

Hi.
Thanks for replying. You’ve put my mind at rest.
My periods haven’t been heavy for years but have always been very predictable.
This one is just strange. I kind of expected it I suppose but It’s just reassuring so Thankyou x

I just had my first period since MMC also, I was told by the hospital it either goes 2 ways a very short light period or extremely heavy , I had a very light 2 day period then nothing for a day and today just had a tiny when wiping bleed so think this is it finished.

Mine was absolutely horrendous, but miscarried naturally so perhaps that's why. Really heavy, clots. Hard to deal with emotionally.

MagicalCreatures · 26/03/2018 23:29

Did you have surgical management Lovewinemorethanhusband

BellyBean

I think it might depend on the miscarriage bleeding to an extent. I had very light bleeding during my miscarriage in January and haven't yet had a period but have had two lots of light bleeding after sex recently so think there is a lot of endometrial tissue to come out and it's getting irritated during sex.

I had a natural miscarriage VERY heavy bleeding and lots of clots... my two periods since have been crap, as in barely anything at all! I’ve been having period pains all month long like my body is gearing up for a full on period. But when the period actually comes its hardly anything, I could wear the same pad for the duration. My body feels out of control and it’s really got me down, I don’t know how it will be from one day to
another. I thought the MC was hard enough but the aftermath isn’t any easier xx

MagicalCreatures · 27/03/2018 22:42

It’s so strange isn’t it.
Sorry you all went through that.
I feel like until my body is completely healed, I won’t be mentally healed. Is that how your feeling?
I ended up spotting lightly for and extra 3 days.
And I feel like I want to start trying again but I’m also not sure if I’m ready x
