New pregnancy or still my miscarriage

Okay so I'll try and keep this simple. I found out I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks. At 12 weeks 4 days I took misoprostol. It all seemed to work, I bled, passed clots and had stomach cramps. After 3 weeks I did a pregnancy test as they told me to and called up to say it was still positive but it was not a dark strong line and they said that means my hormones are going down and no need to do anything else. That was 5 weeks ago. My period is 10 days late but I am still getting positives, no others symptoms besides being emotional and touchy. I’ve got to wait for a scan appointment so in the mean time I just wondered:

What are people’s experiences?

I don’t know whether to do a clear blue digital or if that is silly if there’s a chance of it being my miscarriage?

Has anyone else had a similar situation on an mmc at 12 weeks? How long did it take you to get a negative?

In my personal experience 5 weeks positive is quite a long time to consider it being part of the miscarriage. I’ve had 5, 1 of those was a mmc at 12wks but I had a D&C. Every other MC I was negative after 5 days
For your peace of mind I’d do a clear blue then book in with GP or EPAU asap.

It could be either tbh. I'm here at 7 weeks past d&c and getting faint positives still (but I realise that's very odd! Have had AF too).

Hope it's the result you want :)

But if it's a new pregnancy then it will say 3+ weeks by my calculations but as I was further along in my miscarriage will it also say 3+ weeks? I'm not sure now it works. Yes I've looked up online that 5 weeks is a long time. But glad to know I'm not the only one. Going to go see the docs soon so that will tell for sure. Just wanted stories in the mean time Smile

I’m not sure, maybe the clear blue wouldn’t be the best. A blood test would be your only way of knowing if the pregnancy is new (to do with HCG hormones in your blood)

When I miscarried at 9 weeks I didn't get a negative test till about 5 weeks after then I got af. If your worried give them a call back. Good luck xx

I second getting a blood test if you can. At least you'll be pointed in the right direction after the second blood test then.

My gp is quite busy and slow so I'll keep you updated once I know so others in my position in future can know the outcome. I'm excited and hope this is a new healthy pregnancy. Fingers crossed. Smile

Wishing you the best

Update: it's now been 11 weeks since my miscarriage and my pregnancy tests still come back as a faint positive. My gp is absolutely hopeless. I've got no idea what is going on. I had a blood test 4 weeks ago and am having the second on Monday to compare HCG levels. 4 weeks seems like a stupidly long gap but that's what they said they need to do. Has anyone else waited 11 weeks after with no sign of period etc?

@fh14 , have you not called your epu, they have advised me any issues at all to go directly through them not my GP as they can get any help I need straight away without having to be rereffered

HidCat · 03/03/2018 22:13

@FH14 I'm just approaching 7 weeks after a loss at 11 and still getting positives so I'm very interested to see what your docs say. I have to call epu on March 13th if I'm still getting positives but they test either a 48hr gap or 1 week depending on the circumstances. I hope it is a new pregnancy for you.

Hi. I got pregnant about 8/10 weeks after my MMC at 12 weeks and although my levels had gone down first it is very common as for some reason you are more fertile in the 3 months after. So even if it is doesn't happen this time keep trying if you feel able. Crossing everything for you though xx
