Miscarriage at week 9 - unusual symptoms?

Please can someone tell me this is normal?

4 days ago I had brown discharge and lost all my "pregnant feeling" (sore breasts, bloated tummy etc). The discharge went on and became light to moderate bleeding, no clots (sorry if too much info). I had a private emergency scan 2 days ago on Friday and the doctor confirmed no heartbeat. Yesterday early morning I experienced intensed cramps and pain in lower abdominal, very very painful for about 2-3 hours. Bleeding was still mild/moderate, no large clots, just very small normal period sized clots (maybe 2-3). And after that, all pain has stopped. I'm still bleeding, but no pain anymore. I don't know what's going on, is this normal?!?!

I call the midwife and she said "oh sorry I will update your record on the system, keep well"?!?!?! She didn't even tell me to go to see GP or EPU or A&E, or offer any check up/scan. Pretty much just on my own now.

Please can someone tell me if my symptoms are normal or you had similar experience?

I'm sorry for your loss.Flowers

Each of mine have been different. Most recently, at 11 weeks, I had what you have described on the Saturday afternoon after no heartbeat on the Friday. Bleeding was then light Sunday and I felt fine. I woke around two Monday morning and miscarried over the next few hours. I then continued to bleed all the following week.

I think everyone's different but I certainly was asked to go in again for a scan on the Monday to check everything had passed.

Did you have very painful cramps on Monday morning? Is it worse than the pain on Saturday afternoon?

I'm afraid so. The Saturday afternoon was painful, but like a very bad period. The Monday morning was utterly horrendous. The bleeding was entirely different, extremely heavy, in the end I stayed on the toilet for a good hour as a pad was no good.

Phone the epu direct and ask to be seen. Flowers

I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers

I began spotting which turned to light bleeding, this lasted for 10 days before I began to have contraction pains for around six hours before passing the sac. After that I had a period like bleed but no pain.

I've had no follow up but will need to go back to EPU this week as my pregnancy tests are still positive.

I agree with calling your local EPU and asking to be seen.

Thanks both for your comforting words.

Did either of you consider taking the medicine to induce the miscarriage at all or that option wasn't made available to you?

Also pain killers? Did they help with the pain?

Yes I did. I was given three options, although I felt I shouldn't have been making a decision that day straight after being told.

Options were surgery, wait for natural or pills to induce miscarriage.

I took the first pill on the Friday and was to go back on the Monday for the second pill. They warned that in a small percentage of people it would not work and in a small percentage of people you would miscarry before the second pill. That's what happened in my case so by the time I went back on Monday I had passed the worst. The midwife was fairly surprised though and insisted on a scan as that was not common in her view.

Sorry, posted to soon. Yes was also given pain killers and didn't take them till I went back on the Monday. That was stupid and my own fault. They did help. Flowers

I did consider taking the medication but was encouraged to let it happen naturally which it did in the end. I took paracetamol but only when I had the contraction pains, I also had a warm bath which really helped Flowers

Thank you all for the info. I called the hospital, they can't see me today as it's Sunday and they don't do scan on weekends. They said the earliest they can see me is tomorrow so will call me back then. In the mean time, I had codeine+paracetamol which didn't help at all on Saturday when I was in pain. I also have some tramadol ready here in case the pain comes tonight and become unmanageable. It's scary...:(.

What pain killer did you use that you found helpful? On Saturday I jumped in the warm bath as well and felt that it help soothed the pain a little. I was just worried that warm bath (due to submerged in water) will delay the process.

I'm so sorry lee lol. I hope you are feeling better now.
Your experience sounds just like mine. Was 9 weeks +1, then saw dried blood when I went to the toilet. That became a light period like flow. After 3 days I had a scan at the EPU this afternoon and they confirmed no heart beat. Numbing. Size was 8 weeks + 2, so must have happened last week. Funny thing was I had a moment at work, around that timing when Insuddenlt felt incredibly overwhelmed and emotional. Started crying at work and had to gather myself in the toilet. I can't help but wonder if that was it...
Trying to decide on options - was totally oblivious to this side of pregnancy and the consequences.
