Concieving after miscarriage

I have just had a devastating miscarriage at 8 weeks (measuring 5) and yesterday I had a MVA. I am now looking forward and have been told to start trying again when I feel ready. I plan on waiting till i stop bleeding and get a negative pregnancy test however unsure if I should be waiting for AF.

Has anyone any advice on this matter? Or has anyone been in this situation? Dr said I am very fertile soon after my miscarriage and i would hate to miss this opportunity.

Lack of control and waiting are all part of this pregnancy game it would be seem. Neither are easy to cope with (completely with you on the control thing hometownunicorn). Plans not related to pregnancy, relaxation and positivity! And lots of BrewCake

It's funny how the medical advice seems to vary. I've been told I don't need another scan to check it's clear, and they never said anything about taking more pregnancy tests, just to contact them if I'm still bleeding after more than two weeks, and, otherwise, just to wait for my next period.

"I'm also trying to organise things to look forward to that I can do whether or not I do get pregnant again quickly. I think I was guilty of putting things off just in case I fell pregnant, and one thing I will take from all this is that it's so unpredictable it's more about dealing with where you are at each point than trying to plan for something that may or may not happen."

I can relate to that, unicorn. I am also trying to plan things to look forward to, and enjoy the small things about not being pregnant, such as having a few drinks, or eating the foods that are a no-no. Not that those things are exactly a consolation, but it's about trying to live your life and enjoy it as much as possible, rather than sitting around waiting to be pregnant.

After both my miscarriages i didnt ovulate during the first cycle after mc (using ov sticks daily so quite accurate). I'd go about 6 weeks or so, have a light period and then a 'proper' cycle would start. Both times i concieved with the first ovulation so was very lucky.

Emvys advice is good and i had a similar view. I didn't start thinking about actually having a baby until the 12 week scan went well. So my whole first trimester was sort of like a long two week wait! I've just had my 20 week scan today and its gone well so the penny is finally dropping!

I guess it's because there are specific guidelines within each trust all slightly adapted from national guidelines. For example, although I was told to test at 3 weeks with the expectation of a negative, they did also say I should have stopped bleeding within 2 weeks. So I guess if you just test then, you can be sure. It's all fairly similar advice.

Yes! I've booked a night away at a spa to make the most of the jacuzzi before ttc again Grin
