Mc number 3 - need a hand hold

So far this year I've had a miscarriage (Jan) a mmc (April) and I found out I was pregnant again last week.
Except that now, today, I've started spotting again and I'm convinced it's the beginning of the end... again. I've one dc already which was a textbook pregnancy, no spotting or bleeding at any time. Going to the doctors later but anticipate they'll probably just tell me to wait and see what happens. I'm so fed up.

I'm so sorry. I know how you feel, I had 4 mcs in a row after a text book first pregnancy. People who haven't experienced mc don't understand that it's a death to us...we need time to mourn and get over it. Please take care of yourself

How did things go with the doctor Gardenbirdy?

Good - I'm seeing the EPU tomorrow. They don't usually take people under 6 wks (I'm about 5.5) but with my history they've said they will. The doctor said that if it looks "viable" they may do further tests / treatment so can't ask any more than that really. Although actually, even if it doesn't look viable I'll still ask for tests!

Oh good, I'm glad they'll do tests. yes and you should push for them whatever happens. The more you push the quicker things can start happening, if that makes sense. I found I was forgotten quite easily and had to phone up and talk to doctors at the recurrent miscarriage clinic myself to make appointments. This is something my GP recommended I do myself.

Does your hospital provide counselling for pregnancy loss? I found it extremely helpful in my situation, as I had no one in RL to talk to. My sister was a bitch and told me I lost my babies because I didn't pray whilst pregnant. Nut job that she is.

Wow Dodooodoo that's awful. I'm so sorry you had to go through that on top of your losses
I might ask about counselling, I've only got a couple of people I'll talk to about it in RL apart from dh. I just hate all the waiting, i imagine they'll,probably tell me to come back in a week tomorrow.

Thanks... it's all a distant memory now, but the hurt doesn't fade that easily.

If you do have support apart from dh in RL, then that's really good. I had a good cry 2 minutes into my counselling session as I hadn't spoken about my feelings for over 2 years, even with dh. I was so busy trying to get treatment and researching miscarriage papers that Id gone numb. Do ask at the EPU tomorrow if counselling is something you'd like as the waiting lists can be long. Even if you decide you don't want to go later, it's good to just put your name down just in case.

Yes the waiting is horrible. Especially waiting for scan appointments. Try to keep yourself busy even though it's hard! And continue to take care of yourself

Hello hope all goes well at your scan I had bleeding at 6 and 7 weeks with my DC so try to stay positive ( easier said than done) Sorry for everyone's losses. I had my 3rd miscarriage in June - Have not been offered counselling (but luckily have a friend who has been supportive) I don't know about you guys but I found no one wants to talk about miscarriage especially when it's happened more than once whereas I desperately want to talk about my lost babies. Just when I am feeling a bit more stable something will happen ( like Emma's story new baby pack arriving the week my 1st baby was due or a letter from midwife) I have been referred to recurrent miscarriage clinic but it's a 3 month wait and we are not aloud to ttc until after the tests. Really hard as I just want to be pregnant again ( I just turned 40) but hopefully the clinic will be able to help.

Thanks Danlsb, the scan showed a 4 wk pregnancy so consultant said they'd take blood and again in 3 days to see if my hgc levels are going up or down. Sorry for your losses too, it's just so hard
However, since having the scan I've been bleeding heavily and cramping so I very much doubt whether there will be any sign of a pregnancy when I go back. Sigh.
What worries me now is - what if they do tests and find there's nothing wrong? At least if there's something wrong they can treat it. And, if / when I fall pregnant again, how soon do I seek treatment? The wee had barely dried on the stick before I miscarried this time.

Although I guess those last questions are ones I'll need to ask my gp / if I get referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic.

Oh Gardenbirdy , I'm so sorry.

With me, they found nothing wrong with my blood tests at the recurrent miscarriage clinic. My wonderful GP though carried out a vitamin D test and It was found I was severely deficient. When pregnant again (after 4 mcs) I was treated and amazingly the baby stuck and I gave birth to ds 7 months later.

During that pregnancy I was also on low dose aspirin up to 36 weeks and on high dose folic acid. Along that, I was on a cocktail of vitamins like selenium, co enzyme Q and magnesium because I'd read that your body stores get depleted with every miscarriage.

So even if they find nothing wrong, they may suggest taking aspirin and high dose folic acid to see if it works and many times it does.

There are other problems like NK cell count (not sure but do Google) that only specific clinics test for and you could get in touch with them yourself.

Don't lose hope.

danslb I'm so sorry for your loss ...yes no one wants to talk about miscarriage. I don't understand why it's such a taboo subject. I hope the clinic will give you some answers. It's a horrible ordeal.
