What next after ERPC - anyone who has had one?

Hi all.

I had an ERPC today after a Mmc. I should have been 12 weeks today. I waited for 2 weeks to mc naturally but my body just wasn't giving in and I needed some kind of closure - physically anyway. This is my third miscarriage but I do have my beautiful daughter who I thank god for everyday.

My question is how soon after an ERPC did your periods come back? My previous miscarriages were natural and my cycles went back to normal straight after but I'm wondering if it might be different with an ERPC. Time is not on my side and we would like to start ttc as soon as we can once my body has had some time to heal.

Also how long did you bleed for after (it at all)? I'm just interested to know real life experiences as my consultant said everyone is different so couldn't really tell me.

I had erpc in Feb this year. I was given sweet FA in terms of info in what I should expect to happen when when I was discharged from hospital. Did loads of reading and read that periods could return anything from 4 to 12 weeks afterwards. They could be heavy they could be very light. So really useful info off the net. not

But for me they returned after 31 days. And they were very VERY heavy (for me). The first 3 days I was flooding the highest absorbency tampons in a couple of hours and having to change through the night and it was exhausting. Thankfully after those three days it curtailed and it only lasted 6 days in total.

Then had a 28 day cycle and 2nd period was pretty much normal for what I was pre erpc. Except after 2 days of no bleeding it then continued for 8 weeks due to what turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy.

So sorry for your losses. we have a four year old but have lost another little girl and two earlier losses. I have personally found my periods came back roughly a little longer than my usual cycle xx

I had an ERPC last August at 12 weeks for MMC also, i bled for a couple of days after only. My period came after 35 days then I had a short cycle of 20 days then I fell pregnant again, so didn't regulate at all!

I had one nearly 2 years ago. I was 5wks when baby died but for one reason or another i didnt have erpc until 14weeks. Bled very lightly for abour a week after. Period came about 4 weeks after and i was pregnant again after that period.

So sorry for your loss. I had an ERPC on June 10th and started a period 26 days later. So far (only 3 days in) it's been lighter than usual and not terribly painful. My periods before pregnancy were awful so after reading that many people had heavy painful periods after an ERPC I was anxious but need not have worried.
Like you, I'm also keen to start ttc again so it's nice to read here of some people who have fallen pregnant soon after.
Hope you have a restful weekend, I rememeber I felt very odd leaving the hospital after mine, an equal mix of feeling completely physically battered but also somewhat relieved at the prospect of some closure so I could start to mentally process everything that had happened.

I had an ERPC in May, I didn't have a period because I got pregnant again right away, I got my BFP exactly 4 weeks after the ERPC so I can assume my period would have started 4-5 weeks later. So just a warning, you can get pregnant straight after an ERPC! I wouldn't recommend it though because I lost that one as well and it was like being knee'd in the face after being punched in the stomach, bloody horrible x

It sounds like for most of you your periods returned fairly quickly.

After my first MC it took me 13 months to fall pregnant again which sadly ended in a mc again. I actually then conceived our daughter immediately after my second miscarriage, I got my bfp 4 weeks to the day after. But I am scared in case I have another MC again straightaway this time - I'm not sure I could deal with that. flying I'm so so sorry this happened to you x
