Hi All
Does anyone know how long I can still expect to show as pregnant after surgery? Feel like I'm wasting time not being able to TTC while my stupid body resets itself!
Had an ERPC 3 weeks ago after being told I had a missed MC at 11 weeks. Baby stopped growing at 7-8 weeks but sac still carried on growing. Had the surgery and very light bleeding for 6 days after. There's no chance that I'm pregnant again but the hcg levels in my body are still high enough to show as pregnant on hpts, it's really frustrating! Angry
I'm wondering whether to phone the EPU or my GP or should I wait another week to see if the hpt finally goes negative again?

They were a bit remiss not to give you some guidance on this when you had the ERPC.
I was told to go back to the EPU if I was still getting a positive test 2 weeks after the bleeding stopped. You won't get a negative test till your uterus is completely empty so ifar a tiny bit of womb lining is stuck it needs treatment.

Thanks Fish, I think I would have remembered that but mentally I wasn't in a great place so I guess I could have missed it! I'll call them tomorrow I think. Thanks again x

Celen, it took 5 weeks for mine to drop and I was at the same point as you (11 weeks but stopped at 8+4). I phoned EPU exactly 5 weeks after as the test was still faint positive. It's so frustrating isn't it. My hcg was at 6 so was very nearly there. I didn't expect it to take that long but it did. Im so sorry for your loss.

Thanks amymb, that's interesting. Did you phone your EPU or you were told to expect that?

I was told to phone if after 2 weeks the test wasn't negative. I waited 2 weeks and it was still positive. I didn't know if I should wait 2 weeks after the bleeding had stopped so I waited. Phoned up just over 4 weeks after start of miscarriage and went on the Friday to have bloods. It kept driving me crazy because I didn't know whether I'd got pregnant again or not. I miscarried naturally (with medical at the end) so I don't know if that made a difference to the length of time or not. I've heard some peoples drop straight away and some take longer.

Just another note, I did phone my doctor during the 4th week after the mc but they told me to contact epu. I'd definitely recommend getting bloods done though, at least you know your levels then. Mine were at 26,000 on Monday 16th August (3 days after I found out about the mmc but before I had passed the Sac) and were at 6 on Friday 18th sept. At least it gives you an idea of how far you've got to come down
