Just been told i have a mmc - what to do please

Just been for a private scan where i thought I was 10 weeks. Was told my baby had no heart beat.

Im not sure what to do now. My hospital (Queen Elizabeth Woolwich) said the EPU is closed at the weekend. I dont want to wait to Monday. What can I do?

So sorry for your loss. Loads of us have been there but it can feel so lonely because people don't talk about it much. I'm going to post this now so you have a response then type a longer post with my experience such that it is...

What you mainly need to do now is look after yourself, be kind to yourself and allow yourself to grieve, be angry, or whatever you need.

You'll need to make practical decisions too - What options are offered will depend on your local trust policies and how far along you were so things may be different. Sadly it's very unlikely you would find any place that will help you before Monday.

I had to wait a week and be scanned again to confirm zero growth in case the dates were wrong. This wouldn't always be necessary it depends how much detail they could see in the scan.

You will be offered various options which may include waiting for nature to take its course, medical management, and active removal (I can't remember the technical term) with either local or general anaesthetic. I chose local anaesthetic and was back at work after only one day off. In hindsight I wish I had chosen general anaesthetic - I didn't like being conscious and should have taken longer off work. However with both the nature and the medical management I was warned there was a possibility that not everything would come out which would make the whole thing last longer.

Whichever you go for - what is next is just a really really bad period with worse cramps than normal and lasting longer than normal.

It's all horrible and I actually think there should be a bit of info about it in teenager's sex education - so many of us go through this and have no idea what to expect.

So sorry to hear this-
As an earlier poster said, unlikely that anywhere will help until Monday.
My own experience was a mmc at 11 weeks and I started to miscarry naturally but lost a lot of blood and as i didnt pass all the placenta and sack ended up with an eprc under general anaesthetic. Had three weeks off work.
If I had known sooner before the mc started, I would have probably gone straight to eprc as for me the blood loss made it physically very exhausting experience. After the eprc there was minimal bleeding.
Look after yourself and hope you get some help on Monday at the epu xxx

I found out on Friday and strangley started bleeding on Friday night. It has continued ever since and been like a period but the cramping is so painful at times. It woke me up at 3am and I was doubled over.
I'm worried that after all this I won't have actually passed the sac x
