If I didnt know I was pregnant would I know I had a miscarriage?

I've no experience of this so don't really know if my question is even possible.

A couple of months ago dh and I got carried away and had unprotected sex around the time I would have been ovulating. By my maths it was a few days after ovulation and we would both like a second baby (though aren't actively trying just now) so decided to 'chance it'. Period arrived pretty much bang on time and I thought no more about it.

2 weeks ago I started bleeding about 10days before my period was due. I had a couple of days of tender breasts and period like pain and the bleeding started a few days after that. This was about a week before my period was due and has been going on ever since and i've no idea if I have had my actual period.

Thinking about the timing of everything i'm now seriously questioning if my last period was infact a period. The flow seemed about right but didn't last as long (and have a short period anyway).I had breakthrough bleeding in my last pregnancy though and this bleeding is much heavier than that was,but not as heavy as a period. I'm also getting twinges in my pelvic area though nothing 'significant'

I've had gynae issues previously and had just had my annual check ups not even a month before this started and my last smear just before xmas was normal. With all that in mind the possible pregnancy issue is harder to ignore.

I do have a dr appointment tomorrow but was hoping someone could offer advice in the meantime.

I had no clue what my "mid-cycle" bleeding was, so decided to make a GP appt. But I knew they'd ask if I was pg, so POAS first. It was BFP; I was devastated (there was so much blood).

You need to POAS. It can't tell you if you are still pg but it can say that you recently have been.

If I understand you correctly you had very heavy bleeding then? Everything I've ever heard about miscarriage has mentioned heavy bleeding but this isnt heavy at all,it started as bloody discharge,has gone on to be more period like but isnt as heavy and has had no clots. It seemed to tail off over the weekend and I thought it had stopped but came back again this morning.

It started off just like a period, but got worse.

Any pv bleeding and the doctor will (quite reasonably) ask if you might be pg. If you have poas you can give that result and it helps them know what to do next. If you haven't, they'll likely ask you for a urine sample so they can do one.

Cant get a test tonight and appointment is at 8.15am,will take a sample with me tomorrow.
