If you suspect a miscarriage do you have to see a doctor?

I may have had a miscarriage in that I had pregnancy symptoms took an early test that was neg but then have gone on to have cripplingly heavy period with pains and clots.

Can I presume that I was but it has gone? Or maybe it was just a very heavy period?
Not really sure what to do.

peppapog - I had this last month. Very late period (week late) and neg test. When AF arrived it was awful, very heavy clots and pains right up until the day it ended - I also wondered if I had been pregnant! So, I mentioned it to a medical friend of mine and she said it was unlikely that I had been pregnant but if my AF was late the lining of my womb would have been much thicker and therefore could have caused clots/more pain/heavier bleeding than normal.

HTH.

Do you have any idea how far gone you might have been? They might want to give you a scan to make sure all the tissue came out. If it was very early though that may not be necessary.
Are you still in pain?

No, not much pain now - I have had 3 episodes of clots and in the run up to them the pain has been bad and bleeding heavy but seems to have settled now.

Peppa - I hate to say this but if your test was negative then I would think you weren't pregnant. They are v reliable these days but I do know of people who have had false positives and negatives.... It really does sound exactly like what I had last month and once the bleeding/pain stopped I felt much better.

If you are still worried why not call NHS Direct and get their advice?

Hope you get sorted soon.

Im thinking its most likely I wasnt pregnant. My gut instinct is just a late period. Its just that because it was so clotty and painful Im worried that by not getting seen it could be dodgy?

Just wanted reassurance that Im ok not seeing the doctor really!

Me again! As I said before, if your period was late (which I suppose it was if you were testing?) then the lining of your womb has more time to thicken up. So clots/very heavy bleeding/pain can be normal in those circs as there is more to get rid of IYSWIM.

If you are ttc I hope you get your positive soon!
