Ttc with one tube and one ovary :-(

Ok, I had surgery on2nd jan for an ectopic preg, my right tube and ovary were removed. We want to ttc as soon as possible realy, but I Havant had first AF yet, it's been five weeks so am wondering if something's wrong? Has anyone else also had a tube&ovary removed and successfully conceived?how long did you wait before ttc? Will the one ovary affect my fertility? Thanks in advance xx

I'm not an expert, but I don't see how only having one ovary will affect your fertility. Only one egg is released each month when people have two ovaries, so your chances of conceiving should be the same.

Charl, i had an ovary and tube removed and was advised to start trying for my second baby asap. I did and I got pregnant straight away ?? I went in to have a third baby with no problems whatsoever. Good luck to you. I'm sure it will take you no time at all.

Wow, you don't know how much more relieved that makes me feel! Thanks for the repy, it's great to hear positive stories. The dfs did tell me to wait either two periods or three months before ttc, I'm halfway there lol so fingers crossed! :-) x

I know a friend of a friend who had one tube and ovary removed in her early twenties, she has since had an ectopic in the remaining tube which was threatened with removal, she has also hsd a m/c. She gave birth to a baby boy at new year, when I'm struggling i remind myself of this brave lady who got there in the end.

I was born with one tube and one ovary. I had cycle problems but went on clomid and got pregnant first month on it, no problems. Unfortunately my one tube got blocked when I had an EMCS so I had to have ivf to conceive second pregnancy but I'm now pregnant again so there is hope.
My doctor said my ovary just did the role that two usually do.
