Bleeding but cervix is closed - any positive stories? Think it's called threatened miscarriage?

I've posted a few times over past week as it's been hellish and the scenario keeps developing. I'm 7 weeks pregnant. Had spotting last week so booked early scan to put mind at rest (ha!).

Went to scan hoping to see baby but it showed suspected ectopic in tube and a suspected gestational sac that looked empty. We were sent to hospital where I was admitted and put on drip of fluids.

We thought all hope lost for baby but eventually consultant told us my blood hcg was still high so it was possible I'm earlier than dates thought because I have long irregular cycles.

Rescan on Friday showed mass in tube is corpus luteum rather than embryo and I have a normal shaped gestational sac of 5mm - but still nothing showing in it.

I'm meant to be 7 weeks from dates but I have long irregular cycles so they said it's possible I'm earlier than thought eg 5 weeks. They told me it could still be ectopic so to come straight back if any pain or bleeding, but otherwise to come back in 2 weeks for rescan to see if any development. Meanwhile I've been worried because my pregnancy symptoms seem to have gone.

Today I woke up cramping and bleeding. Thinking the worst we went to hospital presuming it was miscarriage. But doctor says on examination my cervix is closed and my blood hcg has risen.

I'm now getting scanned tomorrow to see if any development.

All in all it's been a very upsetting week, with our emotions going from grief to hope and back again over and over.

I'm bleeding still and I'm cramping. I'm in bed now as it feels better when I lie down.

I'm sure my pregnancy can't survive after all this, but wondered if anyone has any positive stories? I'm still in watch for ectopic as they've said it's still possible.

I'm sorry to say that I did miscarry in the end. I was on bed rest for about 3 days which made the pain much more bearable. I took a test a week later and it came back negative. Its been difficult and took a while before it really sunk in. I have read that it's quite possible to bleed throughout pregnancy and be fine so that doesn't mean what happened to me will be the same for you. Thankfully my cycle has returned straight away which is hopeful for trying again once things are a bit less bleak in the world.

Hey guys just reading this thread, I’m currently about 5 weeks pregnant I started bleeding quite heavily yesterday with clots and I’m now cramping too, I went for a scan today and my cervix is closed the sac is still visible and the foetal pole is present too no heartbeat as yet as it’s too early but they took my HcG levels which were at 1012 I’ve got to go back and have repeat bloods done then another scan next weeks but at the minute I’m in limbo, the cramps seem to settle down when I’m sat or laid down but the bleeding isn’t getting any better I’m so confused and worried and stressed I don’t even know what to feel or think I don’t know if I’m miscarrying or not

I’m currently 6 weeks pregnant started bleeding last night with severe cramping and blood clots went to the hospital today they did my cervix is still closed but could mean that miscarriage is just started have to wait for scan on Thursday which I think is to long away... Does anyone have any inspiration please

@Emgemz this happened to me when I was 8 & 13 weeks pregnant...I’m currently feeding my 6 month old.

Hi just found out I'm 3 weeks pregnant on Wednesday started bleeding on Thursday went strait to hospital to have scan but coz it was so early they couldn't see anything neck of womb is still closed is this a good sign..bleeding stop after 2 days had second bloods done and hcg is 600 after first set is this a good sign xx

Sorry to hear that you went through this I’m currently going through the same thing I am 5 weeks as of 2/8/21 and now having same symptoms what was your outcome trying to keep hope for this miracle baby #4 unexpected hubby just had Vasectomy very emotional roller coaster currently 😔🙏🙏🙏

Sorry to hear about your going through. I’m suppose to be 7 weeks and I started spotting Tuesday went to the er and they did and ultrasound and said they seen a sac but it was to early to see anything else!!! Said I had a bladder infection and sent me home with antibiotics!!!! Still was spotting then it got heavier on Friday morning so went back in to er they said my cervix was still closed!!! And that my levels had dropped from Tuesday!!! Did another ultrasound and said they still couldn’t tell me how far along I was cause I was to early!!! Said I was having a threatened miscarriage to call my doctor and make an appointment for Monday!!!! I’m so confused and scared!!! Anyone else have anything like this

@8mom I’m literally going through the exact same thing right now I’ve been back and forth to the hospital a little over a week now and they still can’t see anything in my uterus because they think it’s too early or either ectopic and it’s driving me crazy being that this is my first pregnancy.. how did everything turn out for you?
