question about positive preg tests and cycle starting up after mc

Hi.
Does anyone know: does your cycle only start up once you test negative post-mc? (i.e. once all the HCG has left your body)
Or can you start gearing up for ovulation and even ovulate with HCG still in your system.

Just trying to work out where I am really. My suspicion is that the HCG must all have gone. And since mine was a mmc and I had an erpc, I'm concerned my body will take longer to realise, and therefore my cycle may be slow in returning.

Any advice much appreciated

Watching with interest. All I can think about is ttc again.

It's quite common to have an anovulatory cycle immediately post MC. Everyone is different but it has always taken me 3 weeks to get a negative test (mcs at 8-10 weeks) and 5 to get my period. From experiences on here time to AF often seems longer after a MMC than a natural one, it just takes a while for your body to reset itself.

Hi, I had faint pos tests three and half weeks after bleeding follow a naturally managed mmc, but got AF just a few days after that. So yes, I think when HCG levels are low, the cycle can be gearing up to start again, but as baking said it could well be an anovulatory cycle. Some people do get pg straight away without having AF at all, but it makes a new pg very hard to date

I had a MMC and opted for the medical management and my period came exactly 5 weeks after the sac passed. But I've heard it can vary from 4-8 weeks. Your body's been through a hell of a lot but should sort itself out soon enough. I'm so so sorry for your loss. It's really is the most horrible of times to go through.
