Pain after medical management

Hi,

I was just wondering if this is normal, having painful cramps 5 days on?

My miscarriage started on Monday evening, a few hours after taking the medication. I have been bleeding since, I wouldn't say excessively, nothing worrying. It actually lessened for the last 48 hours.

I have passed small clots and only one that was bigger (the size of a chicken liver - I do apologise if TMI).

It has been painful the first 24 hours and then it got better. Laying on my back was fine, it got painful if I stood up only. Therefore I stayed in bed for more than 4 days and only got up to use the restroom.

Today was the first day I went out, walking the dog slowly and in the evening I started getting quite painful cramps (similar to the ones I had when I started miscarrying, but not as painful - i.e didn't feel like pulling my eyes out yet lol).
The cramps are felt quite low in my pelvic area and they radiate to the sides and back.

Can someone please advise whether this is normal or not? How long did you have the pain for?

I think that sounds within normal want the bleeding and cramp can be a bit stop and start, your uterus will be contracting down to normal size, and if you've been a bit more active that might have triggered it off again. Is it more than you can deal with using hot water bottle and standard painkillers?
If you feel unwell, are feverish or have any unpleasant discharge then get yourself checked out.
Do you have an appointment for a scan to make sure everything is passed?

Mine was a natural mc and I had cramps for 7 days until I had passed some large clots and then it all settled down

Bakingtins I have an u/s at the EPU booked for the 7th Oct. It will be 3 weeks from the miscarriage. I hope it will all go well and by then I would have eliminated everything.
I don't seem to bleed much anymore, it looks as if it has almost stopped, I could go with a single pad for 24 hrs I guess.
The pain has settled (again) and while I had it wasn't bad enough to go to the hospital or take more than one painkiller.

Ruggle I think this is what is bothering me, I don't know if I have passed everything or not. Judging by the size of the things I've passed I would say the worst is yet to come, but after 6 days and with the bleeding and the pain it juts looks as if it is settling now; I just don't know.
I'll probably find out at the u/s. I just hope I won't need a D&C after all this.
Thanks

If it's only clots left in there they should let you sit it out. Even if there'd been remaining tissue I was told I could wait a few weeks to see if it passed by itself. As long as you can cope with waiting it out you shouldn't have to have the op, though that's assuming it's just clots. That's what I was told anyhow. At my third scan post mc I was told there were still some small clots but that I could wait until my af for them to clear out. I was adamant from the start that I didn't want an op and they were fine about it.
