MMC 5 weeks ago, should we wait for PM results before we TTC again

Hi all was just wondering if any one has any advice. Suffered a MMC 5 weeks ago, we were 17 weeks. We decided to have a full PM done. We were told results could take up to 3-6 weeks but not heard anythink yet. Ive read alot of posts that have said they've waited up to 3 months so now prepared to wait alot longer now. We feel ready to TTC again but unsure weather to wait for results or not. Greatfull for any advice thanks.

Hi shellmck. I have had differing advice since my MMC 7 weeks ago. One midwife at hospital encouraged me to ttc straight away as supposedly very fertile straight after. Others said once I feel emotionally ready which I took to mean straight away if I am up to it. one doctor tod me to wait a few months - but I didn't like him anyway so tending to ignore my visit to him! I think basically if you feel emotionally ready to try again then go for it! Think we may try in June but not quite sure. I fluctuate between ttc now and never again.

Thanks dk75 for your reply. We do feel ready now so think i'll wait till next month and see what happens. I know the cause of MC was'nt a genetic dissorder with having a healthy son so fingers crossed. Good luck to what ever you choose to do.xx

Thanks too! We have a healthy 6 year old daughter too so hopefully things will be fine next time for us both.I dread putting her through this again though as she was so excited to be a big sister and really devastated when we lost it. I think we will try again in June. Good luck again! xx

I would wait til you've had at least 1 AF. My friend had a MMC same time as me in February & decided to TTC ASAP & unfortunately she miscarried again. No-one can be sure it's connected but I know she wishes she had waited now. Good luck for the future.

My huband is desperate to try again! I wanted to wait for an AF which I think I have had but not sure as haven't stopped bleeding completely from MMC yet even though almost 8 weeks ago now. I did have a few days when it was slightly heavier but not like a normal period so not sure if it was or not. I am waiting until i do have a definite AF as I want to feel that my body has recovered and is strong enough to cope with carrying a baby again. xx

Hi. I thinks its really down to you and how youre feeling physically and emotionally. Id say having a proper period would be useful in order to clearly date a future pregnancy.

I lost a baby boy at 18 weeks pregnant in January and I still don't feel ready to try again but thats just me. Perhaps I'll get the 'urge' again after his due date in a few weeks but for now I'm just counting my blessings for my two lovely children I already have.

Id say that as youve opted for a pm then perhaps to wait for the results as they must be imminent now? I didnt have a pm but had swabs taken and placenta analysed which showed that it was poorly vascularised and was told this at my 6 week post delivery check.. I would rather be armed with the facts than going in blind again if you see what I mean.
