I am having a scan tomorrow to find out if my pregnancy is ectopic. If it is I would like to know what I can expect...

So as the title says, I'm having a scan tomorrow at the epu to find out if my pregnancy is ectopic or a miscarriage.

I know it sounds horrid but I'm hoping that it is an MC as the alternative at 38 could mean the end to us having a second child.

Emotionally I'm ok with the pg coming to an end as I've known something is wrong since I found out I was pg last week, a day after finishing what I thought was a normal af. I've been bleeding brown and red blood on and off eversince. My blood levels over 48 hours only went from 378 to 490.

But if the worst happens and its ectopic, I want to know what I can expect to happen. What the procedures will be, will I have to stay in hospital, what is the recovery like, how soon can we try again, how much pain will I be in, etc etc.

Can anyone help? I'm not really in any pain at the moment and I will be 6 weeks on Saturday.

Well, they think it may still be ectopic but that it is finishing on its own as the hormone levels are dropping. They've told me to still be aware of any new pain or if I start to feel unwell and I have to go back to the hospital next friday to make sure that the levels have still dropped.

But they also saw some blood in the uterus so it could be a miscarriage.

Can I first say how very sorry I am that you have had to experience this it's so horrible and an experience that sends you into a spiral of sadness!
I had my 1st ectopic in 06 just got married a few months before and was hit with terrible pains and ended up in hospital to get the injection! Thankfully my tubes was saved!
Had my son in 2010 - as soon as I got the line I was at hospital checking it was not another ectopic!
2011 had a MMC which was discovered at my 12 weeks scan had a scan at 8 weeks all was well!
April 12 - had a routine scan no pain no bleeding just had a strong feeling I should get it checked - ended up in surgery having my right tube removed - pregnancy in an unknown location!
Was told to wait 2 cycles and thought yeh right I'm never hong to get pregnant as its taken so long to have my son!
June 12 - BFP - baby in right place and all looking well!
Just wanted to share this just to say keep hold of hope!
Although its early days for me and everyday is an emotional roller coaster I have to trust all will work out!!!!!
