Mc disruption of cycles??

Hi just looking for a few answers or similar stories really, before dd I was trying for quite along time and looking back in that diary I have length of my cycles which were
30,27,27,32,25,24,26,31,26,27,25,28,30 as you can see I'm not clockwork bur fairly regular after that I was pregnant and then breast fed until I got pg again 9 months later, that unfortunatly resulted in mc then that cycle was 32 which tied in pretty much with before... This following cycle I'm currently on cd34 with no sign of af at all and while I know it's not massively late, I've never had a cycle this long, I took a hpt which was neg this morning Sad but just wondered if anyone else found their cycles changed after mc or pregnancy and how long they felt it took to come back to normal? I realise I shouldn't stress too much but every day at the minute is excruciating as I'm in no mans land not able to try again as it were

Hi Kitty, similar-ish story here. I've always been pretty regular really (27/28 day cycles) with the very odd shorter cycle. Previously, the only time I'd ever, ever been late was when I turned out to be pregnant with my DD. Unfortunately my second pregnancy miscarried at the end of April and since then things haven't been quite back in sync.

First post-mc period arrived on day 29 (counting start of mc as day 1) but was very heavy and painful. This took me by surprise as I thought I'd be quite 'empty' given the fortnight of heavy miscarriage bleeding. 2nd period arrived a bit early (26 days) and again was very heavy and painful.

My 3rd post-mc period drove me completely bonkers as it didn't arrive until day 30. I know that doesn't sound particularly late - but I'd never been late before (without a BFP) I kept testing like mad and wasted a fair amount money. I also wasted a fair amount of mental energy trying to calculate possible late implantation dates etc. (TMI alert!) I also had pink vaginal mucus for 3 days before things started properly which I've never had before. The only upside is my period ended up being surprisingly light and relatively pain-free. All very odd!!

I felt like such a fool that I'd carried on testing and allowed myself to believe I could be pregnant even though all the tests screamed negative (not even a hint of a line).

Fingers crossed for you - it is so horrible waiting to know what is going on with your body. A couple of days seems nothing but it is a killer when you've already endured the 2WW and mentally prepared to know by a certain date.

kittykatsforever · 24/07/2012 16:25

Thanks Bridget you've summed it up really well, it's sent me crazy as I know its not late late but when you desperately want to be pg again and it's like 10 days later then cycles have been!!
The other thing is ( tmi) I've got no signs, I've even used my finger to check around cervix Blush sorry!! To see if it's pink at all or anything and totally clear, I've only done the test 5 days ago and took it as not then started building hope up and tried today but 2 tests of different types both neg and like you say not a hint of a line so I've got to take it as a neg now!

Me too! Last 5 cycles before BFP were incredibly regular, 23-25 days, always OV'd days 8-10, could set a clock by it!

Had m/c at 11.5 weeks, treated with ERCP. Did bleed lightly for a couple of weeks after, but EWCM just around day 18 & AF at 32 days - so a bit later than usual, but still pretty normal.

Thought my body had clicked back in, but this 2nd cycle is all over the place! After AF, had an OPK that looked positive on day 8 (usual for me) so we DTD day 9 & started trying again. Then I spotted/bled from days 10-14 so couldn't DTD. Plus OPK has been resolutely negative. Now on CD 18 & no sign.

I'm wondering if I did OV around day 9, or I've had an anovulatory cycle. Or maybe I've still to OV - who knows!? Least of all me!

I'd really like to get back to proper TTC but it's really hard when your cycle is up the spout.

kittykatsforever · 24/07/2012 19:46

Have you done a test lots ofcheese - could spotting be anything to do with implantation?
I also had a + opk cd15 so 19 days ago but that is v v early for me usually always 17-19 then I tried another straight after and was neg so didn't know what to make if that, it was literally a few hour when in the past I've always had two days of surge , the second normally darker. then a week later I had EWCM so again I don't even know if I ovd this month and if I did when?!
Glad to know its not just me then and weird how the cycle after mc seems normalish apart from the very heavy period you get but the cycle after is all over the shop!

OP posts:
lotsofcheese · 24/07/2012 20:08

I don't think it was implantation bleeding, as spotting started 2 days after DTD. Wondered about cervical erosion from ERCP, or maybe post-coital.

So I haven't tested - i would wait another week before I'd do that - only CD 18 anyway- I usually know when I'm pregnant (3 times so far) as I get symptoms within a week of missed AF & I don't have any.

Yes, it's strange how the 1st cycle after m/c can be normal, but the 2nd is haywire. As if we haven't been through enough without our bodies playing up! Xx

kittykatsforever · 24/07/2012 20:56

Tell me about it!!!
Atleast I can start accepting that I have no control over it and it will just do what it's going to do, oh and that I'm not one of the 1% that just doesn't get a + hpt within the normal range lol
Mc is a bitch isnt it x

Hello, I've come over from conception to this thread on cheese's recommendation...cd38 of second cycle post-ERPC and no sign of AF, plus bfn...don't know what's happening but v fed up! Wish AF would arrive so I can try again...and enjoy a guilt-free glass of wine!

lotsofcheese · 31/07/2012 22:03

Hello again lurcher! My weird cycle continues - thought AF had started (ties in with OPK last month) but it's gone away after only 2 days of very light bleeding. Bizarrely, the bleeding I had between days 10-14 of my last cycle was heavier than this.

So it's back on the OPK's for me. I'd stupidly bought some pregnancy tests last week, more in hope than anticipation.

So here we go again.....

Lolcbcb · 01/08/2012 09:04

Hi
Somebody here on MN calls this the WTF cycle!! I am in the middle of it too, having had a mc on Friday 20th. So far no sign of ov for me even though I did poas a week ago and it was negative, which is supposed to be a good thing!
Simple people say they go back to normal within 4 weeks, others say they don't get af for 3 months?!!!!
The wait is the hardest part for me as the only thing helping me move on in the thought of trying again but it's kinda hard with no ovSad x

lurcherlover · 01/08/2012 14:17

What I don't understand is why it's my second cycle that's a WTF one! My first cycle post-ERPC ended in AF after five weeks - they told me it was usually 4-6 weeks before AF returns so that was bang on. But now in my second cycle I'm on day 39 with no sign of AF at all. We have been dtd but I got another bfn this morning...I haven't been using ov sticks but maybe I should start, to attempt to get some idea of what's going on.

kittykatsforever · 01/08/2012 14:38

Hi lurcher, you are exactly the same as me except as a follow on I got bfn til this weekend then very faint + on sat and Sunday waited til Tuesday to test with a digi got confirmed pregnant then within 30 minutes bleeding, this was cd41!! Still now and guessing very early mc/ chem pg
I've had no idea what's been going on for 2 weeks and in all honistly have found this more traumatic then mc in may where I was substantially more pregnant as I've been up and down up no af, down bfn up again 5 days later, down bfn again etc I think I ovd around cd 23/25 based on getting the digi when I did, im usually a 17-19 day girl so was very late, I was just wishing for af in the end, hopefully you will have a more positive conclusion then me, I guess even if I hadn't got pregnant I'd have still not had af until a good 10 days later then normal

OP posts:
lurcherlover · 01/08/2012 14:56

Sorry to hear that kitty, how traumatic for you. Sounds like a chem preg, but a lot of people do bleed heavily in early preg - are you still getting bfp? If so it might be worth a blood test to see if your hcg levels are rising?

kittykatsforever · 01/08/2012 15:06

Still getting one but very very faint and don't think it would be by now will do one in the morning though to double check but I do feel sore and tender so im pretty sure it gone, feel emotionally rung out from this one, didn't realise what an effect it all has on your body, do you have any pg signs? I did have alot even while getting bfn, every day seems like your in torture while in limbo land doesn't it

OP posts:
lurcherlover · 01/08/2012 15:14

No, I have no signs at all. Both times I've been pg (once successful, one mc) I haven't had many symptoms - I don't get morning sickness or anything, just slightly sore boobs and a bloated tummy. But I haven't got anything. Did have some spotting just over a fortnight ago, so don't know what that was. Sorry to hear it sounds like yours is a cp. it is horrendous isn't it - I'm actually finding all this more difficult to deal with than the mc, at least then I knew what was happening!

lotsofcheese · 01/08/2012 15:15

Oh Kitty, what a rollercoaster for you, the waiting & trying not to hope is so hard. Take it easy; I do hope it's good news for you, after everything you've been through x

kittykatsforever · 01/08/2012 15:29

Thanks girls, lurcher you sound so much like me, I have had 2 pregnancies aswell one dd and last mc never had a symptom with either except a couple of boob twinges with dd but this time I had every one going even with bfn, terrible metallic taste and Monday had to leave work early I felt so sick with like sea sickness and headaches, wasn't surprised by the + on the tue but floored again by bleeding straight after, it does seem to have been particulaly cruel this month, dh also wants to stop trying now for abit, I can understand why, I just really wish this wasn't happene ing again but I know in my heart it is

OP posts:
lurcherlover · 01/08/2012 19:35

I don't think men get it really...I know they have lost a baby too buy they aren't the ones who feel the physical loss and the hormonal changes. My DH is worried we're ttc too soon but I know that the only way I will be able to move on is to be pregnant with a healthy baby.

lotsofcheese · 02/08/2012 09:02

Hi kittycats & lurcher, how are you today?

I decided to take the plunge & do a pregnancy test this morning, just to try & exclude this as a possibility. It was negative, as I expected, but that means I did OV on cd 9, then bleed afterwards & the 2 days bleeding I had earlier this week was AF. Odd, but adds up in context of opk & negative HPT. So I know where I stand now cycle-wise & will start using opk again tomorrow.

Yesterday was a hard day for me; I had to cover the pregnancy clinic at work. I did manage to hold it together, but felt like shit for the rest of the day. Just felt very negative about everything, especially my age (40).

Am feeling more positive today; hope you both are too x

kittykatsforever · 02/08/2012 09:47

Hi lots ofcheese, sorry for bfn but glad you feel you know what's going on now, can't imagine how hard that must have been for you yesterday, I find it hard enough walking past strangers!!
I did a frer test this morning and the line was darker then the weekend but still bleeding Sad I guess if I'd stoped bleeding I'd be more positive just don't know what to think but find it hard to think something as small as a seed could survive this

OP posts:
lurcherlover · 02/08/2012 13:00

Sorr for bfn cheese, but as you say at least it gives you an idea of your cycles. Kitty, it might be worth a blood test - maybe if you still get bfn at the weekend? Perhaps try with a cheap test that might be less sensitive? I know you don't want to get your hopes up though.

Still no AF for me, day 40 now. I took DS round to a friend's to play this morning (she has two kids) and she was telling me how two are loads of trouble and I'm better off with just one...I know she meant well, but it's not exactly the kind of consolation I need really!

lotsofcheese · 03/08/2012 09:38

Well, my wacky cycle continues. I decided to start OPK strips today - cd 5 or 6 depending on when AF started (was so light couldn't tell!) and it's positive!!!

How are you getting on?

lurcherlover · 03/08/2012 09:44

Still nada here. Our wedding anniversary today and I am bloody having bubbly later and sodding the guilt! Can't live every day as if I'm pregnant when it seems overwhelmingly likely I'm not. Day 41 and bfn again. Ordered ov strips from amazon, so hoping they will give some insight. Perhaps not, judging by your experience though! Have you done a pg test too? I read that ov strips can show positive if your pregnant?

kittykatsforever · 03/08/2012 10:47

I was just going to say the same thing lotsofcheese, could the spotting be implantation and the + opk reading pregnancy hormones? It seems to earlie for a + opk
Fx tightly crossed for you x

OP posts:
lotsofcheese · 03/08/2012 15:43

Thanks Kitty & Lurcher. I've never heard about pregnancy tests & OPK showing the same hormone - I thought HPT's detected HCG only & OPK's luteinising hormone only?

My last cycle was only 21/22 days & are normally 23/24, so I usually ovulate early ( my last 2 pregnancies were cd 8&9 conceptions) so I do think it's ovulation rather than pregnancy, just earlier than usual. Plus the sensitive pregnancy test yesterday was resolutely negative Sad

lurcherlover · 07/08/2012 22:02

Cheese, according to www.peeonastick.com which is my poas Bible, the hormones are very similar and OPKs can show positive for pregnancy. I did an OPK on Sunday (day 43!) and it was positive, so on the spur of the moment did a pg test - faint positive...stronger one on Monday morning. So it seems I have ovulated really really late this cycle. It goes to show though that just because you're having long or irregular cycles, it doesn't mean you can't get pregnant. Really hope it happens for you guys soon. I'm happy but terrified...
