Treating Miscarriage caused by Natural Killer Cells with Traditional Chinese Medicine ( herbs , acupuncture etc)

I've had 4 miscarriages and last year was told i have very high nk cells , i was on steriods with my last miscarriage a few mths ago and my body has still not recovered . This time i'm trying acupuncture and herbs . Has anyone else done this for autoimmune problems?

Hi, i'm sorry to hear about your miscarriages. I have suffered 6 myself and am now considering whether to go down the steriods route or not as i have also been told i have high nk cells. Would you mind sharing how your body has still not recovered? i have also looked into acupuncture but haven't started anything yet.

im so sorry about your miscarriages ! i went on the steriods in dec 2011 when i was ovulating , was on 25mg, and then realised i was pregnant in jan so upped the steriods to 40mg. i felt like crap when i was on , hand shaking, felt weak, wasnt sleeping , was v depressed . moon face and all the extra weight which is normal .I felt like i lost "me". found out i miscarried in feb when i went for the 8 week scan, 6 week was ok. i was hysterical and a large part of that was because i knew the 3 mths i had been on the steriods were for nothing and i had to start all over. it took 4 weeks to come off the steriods and 1 week after i had finished i realised my muscles and joint were out of wack. i could hardly get out of a chain, it hurt to walk up stairs , i walked like i have had a hip replacement ( a bad one !) and to be honest i f aged 10-15 years. i decided to take a few mths off the steriods and go back on back on in june , went to australia and really relaxed but it didnt help, as soon as i did a bit of walking i felt like crap and was in pain, i was taking pain killers nearly every night. Not everyone had this sideeffect, i think the steriods did something to my muscles and joints .
when i came back i was so depressed to think i had to go back on when i wasnt back to normal yet. then someone on mums net mentioned she was going on mushrooms and herbs as steriods didnt agree with her , it seemed a doc - trevor wing has been treating women with nkc with traditional chinese med, i cried when i read it as i had been looking for an alternative with no luck. he is very expensive and busy, when i went on his web site he has a list of people he has trained in different areas due to him being in demand and busy. i called one on the ladies in wimbledon . i have been going to her for nearly 1 mth and im already better, im not as tired, i noticed yestreday i dont hurt when i get up from a chair and walk up stairs, my ovulation date has changed from day 11/12 to 13/14 ( she wanted this to happen) . I've been doing accupuncture , i also take mushroom capsules and 2 different herb drinks. if you decide to do the steriods, do it with traditional chinese medicine like accupuncture , let me know if you need any other info

thank you so much for all the information. I'm so sorry to hear about all your health problems...i wish you a speedy recovery and pleased to hear you are now on the right track! I've had a my first session of acupuncture this morning and i found it very relaxing! I also was recommended to eat certain mushrooms to strengthen my immune systems so i'm optimistic about that. I'm going to try and book a appointment at Trevor Wings clinic today. I'm just so fed up at this stage that the thought of pumping drugs into my body just doesn't sit well with me! i'd much rather go down the natural treatment route. Well do keep me updated about the treatment and i'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

good luck, wish i could afford to go to dr wing as well but i was made redundant a few mths ago and am only temping so i think i would be too stressed worrying about the money.
isnt the accupuncture amazing. my cycle has always been 26 days, since coming off steriods its been 25 days , not heavy ( im still on 75mg of asprin from- so it should be v heavy like before steriods) ive been going to her 1 mth, i ovulated 2 days later and got my period today, so it was 27 days !!! amazing!! fyi, this is what im on - 75mg asprin, vit d- 25mg, omega 3 1000mg 3 times a day , chinese mushroom capsules 3 times a day, pregnacare original, co enzyme q10 300mg , 2 chinese herb drinks - one for the nkc and 1 for fluid caused by mushrooms, and last but not least vit b complex ( 100mg b6 in this mix) i was told to take the b6 7 days leading up to my period. all of this is got to do with nkc or just helping my cycle work better. crazy i know BUT for me so much better then steriods im happy to take it. the miscarriage clinic told me to take the - asprin,pregnacare,omega 3 and vit d, i added co enzyme, chines doc asked me to add vit b6.

did you mean actually eat mushrooms or take capsules ? i take cordyceps .

so sorry to hear about your redundancy and i agree that the additional stress of money is not a wise move! we have been saving to buy from a home so will have to dip into those funds! wow you certainly are taking a lot of herbal medicine! thanks again for all your information....i'm so grateful! the acupuncturist told me to eat Shiitake mushrooms and take algae supplements. she also told me to boil hot water and then put some dried mushrooms in there and drink stock also. I'm not taking anything else at the moment. I'm going to give it a few months before we try again but i think it's important that i at least start to take all the herbal medicines to build my body's strength up again! I'm a vegetarian so I was also given a long list of foods to include in my diet!

shitake mushrooms ! havint heard of that one , i've heard dr wing says to use the one im ( cordyceps) on for high nkc, i bought them from www.jcm.co.uk( again given me by my doc) when are you going to see him? if i were you go to his website and he has a list of consultants hes trained all over the uk and some in europe, i found my chinese doc from there in wimbledon, she charged me £60.00 for the first time inc accupuncture and 50.00 after that. im usually there 1.5 hour. do you live around london? if you are close to wimbledon give her a call and have a chat, her name is ellie.

i also bought this book - the infertility cure by randine lewis. shes a doc in the states whos trained as a normal doc as well as in traditional chinese medicine, it's fantastic and easy to read. i know its a lot of info for you! ive been researching this since i found out last year and my head still spins , in this book they talk about omega 3 reducing nkc levels, q10 helping keeps eggs healthy etc, plus how the accupuncture works. another book i try and get my hands on if you dont already is - is your body baby friendly by dr beers ( my doc always has a giggle about how much i research!- i like to know whats going on )
