Has having an ERPC wrecked my chances of getting pregnant?

I had an ERPC on 7th March as baby stopped growing at 6 weeks although i was 11 weeks when i found out. Only had 3 days of bleeding then had a check up a month later to see if there was anything left over, there wasn't but was told the lining of my womb was very thin and not to expect a period any time soon.

I have been trying for the last 2 ovulations and keep getting BFN...i have no sign of getting my period and feel very lost as it only took 1 cycle to get pregnant with my DD who is 3 and only took 1 cycle for the 2nd which failed...i just don't get why i'm not falling straight away again...has the operation completly messed up everything????

Anyone else struggle to fall pregnant after an erpc??

Hi Carina, sorry to hear about your MMC; I've had 2 (and two ERPCs) and like you I thought I had messed up my body and wouldnt be able to conceive again. There's a lot of stuff on t'internet about Asherman's Syndrome, which is scary reading (scarring of the womb) and I even went for a private consultation as I was convinced that's what I had (and also had v light periods - not like me at all) but got a bfp before I went for actual testing - and she's now 1! After my first erpc it took about 6 months to fall pg again, then after my second it was 4 months. I told DH not to come to the scan as I was convinced it was another MMC (I'm really positive me!)

I think an ERPC mess up your body for a while, especially if the surgeon is a bit 'heavy handed' ifykwim, and obviously if no period after say 6 months I would see a GP, but try to give yourself time to recover properly.

Stupid phone - couldnt go back to the end and say: wishing you lots of luck! I'm sure you'll get your bpf soon!

Hello.
It took me 6 weeks to have a period after my Erpc,I fell pregnant on the 2nd cycle after this period. of course even that felt like a lifetime!

Everyone is different though of course.

Good luck.

Hi BayeauxT

Thank you so much for your reply, i so wish things would regulate properly as i'm getting more depressed by the day. I'm going to try some herbal pills which are meant to help regulate your hormones and i'm also looking into reflexology and accupuncture...hopefully something will help as i just can't sit here and wait and feel that the only way i can grieve and move on properly is to be pregnant again :-(

It's perfectly normal not to conceive straight away. Those that do are lucky, but it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with you if you don't. Even if you do everything right and have loads of sex at the right time, there is only a one in five chance of getting pregnant each month. I had an ERPC a couple of years ago and it took me 8 cycles to conceive again. Anything up to a year is normal. But it's very frustrating especially when you desperately want to be pregnant again - I know what that feeling is like.
If you have not had a period since the erpc then you have probably not ovulated. And if you have not had a period then you should be having that looked into by the doctors to make sure that nothing is amiss. I wouldn't wait six months personally - I'd be thinking about half that time at the most.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage and hope you are pregnant again very soon with a sticky one.
