Am I Still Pregnant? 6/5/12

Hi, I am apparently 6weeks + 2 days pregnant with my 3rd child (different father, this would be his first). I started bleeding on Thursday 3rd May AM, I called the DR who booked me in for a check up with the EPAC at my local hospital on Friday 4th May, at the appt the Nurse gave me another pregnancy test which was positive but very feint, she advised me to do another test in a week ( Thursday 10th May) just to make sure.
The bleeding started off at 9:45am and was very light and pink but very slowly got heavier during the day although it was only when I was active, I had no blood in my underwear until I went to the toilet and wiped, this continued until around 8pm, when I was putting my 2 kids to bed I felt something move / fall, I put them to bed as normal then went to the bathroom to check, there was a 2" long lump (not a blood clot) of something in my pad and then another fell away as I sat on the toilet. I described this to the Nurse on Friday, she said that this coupled with the blood strongly suggests a miscarriage. The bleeding is very light and painless, although I can feel occasional twinges in my womb, but continuing nevertheless, it mostly resemblems heavy spotting now.
I dont 'feel' pregnant anymore but even this is difficult to distinguish as with my other 2 pregnancies I had absolutely no symptoms between getting a positive test and the babies first wriggle around 16 weeks.

I've read up alot on miscarriages lately and I dont seem to fit in anywhere, most of what I've read describes heavy bleeding and serious period-like cramps with big or regular blood clots, none of which I'm experiencing. I have passed some clots but nothing bigger than a 2 pence piece and it was flat, not round or anything.

Has anyone experienced the same and had a good outcome? I'm at a complete loss!!

Sorry to hear what you are gong through.

With an early mc at 6 weeks I had little pain, just blood loss. Only way I knew for sure was a preg test a week later. It's a hard wait. Hugs

Thank you!
I'm lucky enough to already have two wonderful children but I can't help but feel that I've let my partner down :(
How long did it take for your body to get back to normal? I dont know when to expect my next period although some sites saw it can take upto 9 weeks to fully recover!

You haven't let anyone down, it's horrid that our bodies don't always work as well as we'd like, :(

I had a period 5 weeks after my bleed started. I gave myself a month more to recover my sanity.

The drs at the clinic told me not to worry about waiting though, it was only my need to give myself a break

How did you cope with losing yours? I feel utterly tormented every time I need the bathroom. I just want it to stop so that I can pick up the fragments and get on with it. I can't even bring myself to open a bottle of wine and get drunk just incase I am still pregnant! This limbo is terrible xx

Hated the limbo too. In another MC I had to wait 10 days to really know and didn't drown my sorrows with wine till after second confirmation.

I hated the visits to the loo and seeing the way my body was unable to hold onto our baby. Nothing helps really other than time. More hugs

So sorry to hear you are going through this.

I had a m/c 6 weeks ago at 8 weeks pg and like you had no pain just blood loss each time I went to the loo :( It started on a Thurs eve and by Mon lunch it was all over.

Fingers x'd everything is ok for you xx

Mushka21 · 06/05/2012 22:42

Thank you both for replying, it means so much to know I'm not alone!
I'm dreading the thought that because theres no pain that I'm in the calm before the storm and the worst is yet to come or that I'll need medical help to complete it.
I don't think I can wait until Thursday to do another test but if I test too early it could still read a false positive and I'll be no better off.

Argh! This is awful :(

Thank you again x

Oh Mushka, I'm sorry. It's so horrible when those little plastic sticks confirm sad news.

Thinking of you and sending you a hug.

wilderumpus · 10/05/2012 14:21

Sorry it's bad news for you Sad but wanted to offer a bit of hope - exactly 2 years ago today this was me - I was also about 6 weeks along. We were told there was no medical reason for waiting before trying again, so as soon as the bleeding stopped we did! And I conceived within two weeks... DS is now almost 15 months old. Someone told me that your body is super fertile immediately after MC, don't know whether there's any truth in that but it certainly worked for us. Hoping you have similar luck too Smile x
