Sore tummy last night and sore boobs no longer- is it possible I'm still pregnant?

I got a BFP at the weekend, think I'm about 5 wks, last night I had mild sore stomach- not the same as period pain but something. This morning my boobs are no longer sore. I assume I have mc'd, this will be my 6th so I'm getting quite used to the signs, but I have not bled yet and given that I'm quite early I would normally have bled by now.
I am just hoping someone will tell me they lost the sore boobs feeling early...... Sad

Hi bramblina. I didn't want your post to go unanswered although I don't have any experience of mc at this stage (both mine were missed at 12 & 9.5 wks) but I'm so sorry you've been through this so many times. I do know that symptoms are not usually the best indication of whether the pregnancys progressing. I had crampy pains with all mine, sore boobs with 2 & bad sickness with 1 (that wasn't successful) so please don't lose hope yet. Although obviously you know your body best.

Also are you under a recurrent mc clinic as after 3 you're entitled? I don't want to sound patronising as sure you know all this but can you call them for reassurance & a scan? I've had v early scan for reassurance & even though they can't see a heartbeat they can often get an idea of what's going on.

Good luck realy hope you get good news - you definitely deserve it xx

Hi bramblina, so sorry to hear what you have gone through. I am going through my 4th mc at the moment so I know how you feel. My mc started last week, very early like you, with my boobs no longer feeling sore followed by tummy cramps. As I was on progesterone supposotories (recommended by rmc), it delayed my bleeding which started 5 days after my sore boobs disappeared. With me, sore boobs have always been my first symptom to appear and the first to go when things start to go wrong. Everybody is different and I've read on here that symptoms can come and go so hopefully that is what is happening to you if you have not yet started bleeding. Fingers crossed for you x

Thank you both very much.

I saw my mw this morning. She offered to do a blood test then another on Sun am to see if hormones are rising, but I live quite remotely so it would mean a trip out for her on Sunday, then the bloods have to be posted to hosp so I prob wouldn't get results till next Fri, I think I'll prob know either way by then anyway. She did say it would be worth taking another urine test next week which I'll do. I tried to work out my dates (I hadn't been marking them down recently as was starting to get obsessed) and reckon I would only be 4 weeks this week which is wierd as I had a pos test on Sunday. So, she said we could arrange an early scan at about 6 or 7 weeks, if I have had no other symtoms I'll go for that incase it's a mmc. Trouble is, hosp is a 145 mile round trip and I have a dd in school and ds in nursery while dh works away so it's not easy!

I don't think you're being patronising, teaandchocolate! Thank you. I had 4 mcs before the dc, so I was attending the clinic when I fell pg with dd! I can't even remember how far along we got with tests, so the mw said today if I do mc this time I should go to see the dr and pick up as this will be No.6. Was your early scan an internal one? I had one of those and found it very uncomfortable, I wonder if you know how early an external one will show?

Rosepip, what does the progesterone do? Mw said today sometimes something as simple as aspirin can help if there's an issue with the blood so there maybe just a simple problem easily solved.

Sorry to rant, we haven't told anyone yet so I haven't had a chance to bounce it off anyone.

Thank you both very much xx

Hi bramblina

So sorry you are going through this.

I tried aspirin in last pregnancy as I was getting quite desperate but unfortunately it didn't help. But I spoke to my doctor before to get the dosage that would not harm baby, even though she couldn't recommend it (as ONLY had 2 mc)she said it wouldn't harm at 75mg once daily!

When I had a scan for mmc they had difficulty finding baby at 8wk with external scan but think that was because no heartbeat otherwise all my scans have been internal :(

Wish u all the best xxx

teaandchocolate · 24/03/2012 21:34

Hi Bramblina. How are you doing? All my early scans were internal ones (until the 12 wk one with DD) as you can see so much more. I had one at 5 wks where they just checked things were in the right place & doing what it should be (couldn't see much but was vaguely reassuring as sonographer was v experienced & said encouraging things!). I don't think early scans are by any means conclusive & I've only had them when things were going ok because my mcs were much later. Hope you're midwife is helpful & can offer advice. I'd definitely at least speak to your rmc clinic although can't believe what a big commute you will have! Good luck though x

Hi there,

No change with me here as of yet so I'll do another urine test on Wed, that's 1 week from having no pg symptoms.

feeling a little confused- not sure what to do or how to feel as I don't know what's going on. I'm OK though, getting quite used to it!!

Will let you know. Thank you all Smile

Hi Bramblina, hope you are ok, it's good to come on here and have a rant! The progesterone is supposed to help support the pregnancy if you are lacking in this hormone. Low progesterone levels can be a cause of MC. My blood results all came back normal but both my NHS Consultant and the one we saw privately, both suggested using progesterone for the first 12 weeks, as it 'can't do any harm', along with 75mg baby aspirin a day. Progesterone support in pregnancy seems to be a bit of a grey area, my GP knew very little about it, and from reading various posts on here, not all Dr's, Consultants recommend using it. We are waiting a cycle now before we ttc again, and I have bought some Angus Castus and Vitamin B6 having read on here that these supplements are good for conception. I am also taking Pregnacare Conception and 5mg folic acid so fingers crossed for a sticky one next time! Let us know how you get on this week, wishing you all the best x

teaandchocolate · 26/03/2012 14:04

Hi girls

Rosepip I am going to take the 'it can't do any harm' approach too!! I was prescribed progesterone with DD even though I probably didn't need it and if there's a next time I'm going to take aspirin as well for good measure. Also ordered vitamins and going to start acupuncture. I think mainly it makes me feel better as feel like I'm doing something positive rather than just worrying!

Bramblina hope you get some answers soon. It is a horrible time isn't it, however it happens - once I knew it was not going to end well I just wanted it over and to get back to 'normal'. Let us know how you get on x

bramblina · 27/03/2012 21:23

Hello Smile Sore boobs again yesterday! And today, and feeling really exhausted-though did have a late night last night and still up for school at 7am so not sure if it's normal tiredness.
I'll test in the morning, I'm guessing if it's still positive the mw will send me for a scan around 7 weeks as discussed, and if it's negative am I right in saying that will likely indicate a missed miscarriage? I have bled with every one I have had until now.
I had my coil removed last Feb, fell pg in Oct but mc'd a day after testing positive. So, over Christmas I tried to forget about everything and didn't write my dates down. I remember having a period on either 30th or 31st Dec because of it being Hogmanay, then I remember the next one seeming to come round very quickly but when I thought about it, it did work out to be 4 weeks but hadn't felt like it because it had been a busy time. Then the next one seemed about right (4wkish) then last week I felt a little bit pg and seemed to think my period would have been due at the end of the week but didn't test until the next Sunday which was the 18th. So, I thought yes that def was late. However, when I saw the mw last Fri I went through all this with a calendar to try to determine where I would be (to try to work the best date out for early scan)- and I was only 4 weeks that day!!!! SO, the long and the short of it is I have no idea where I am!!!
Will let you know tomorrow. Thank you both so much for listening, it's so kind and I really appreciate it. x

fingers crossed for you. A pg test may still come back positive for some time after a mc or even after delivery. I had a mmc and in retrospect I know I had +ve tests after the baby had died. After the ERPC it took 5 days to get a -ve, which is much faster than some I believe.

bramblina · 27/03/2012 22:46

It took a month for me to get a -ve test after my first mc at 14 weeks but the mw said last week it's worth doing another urine test. I didn't think so and so am leaving it a full week but I guess there's no harm in doing one and may go either way. Not much else she could suggest I guess!!

OP posts:
bramblina · 30/03/2012 22:22

Had a +ve test the other day, and feeling pregnant now! Hard to believe after feeling so very not pg! Mw sending me for a scan around 7 wks so that will prob be in about 2 wks.....watch this space!!

Smile Thanks all xx

Dear Bramblina, sorry to hear what you have been going through. I've had several mcs, in total 9. All were in the very early stages - between 5-7 weeks. Someone recommended I get a referral to see Dr Professor Lesley Regan at St Marys in Paddington, London. She is an expert in recurrent mcs. By the time I went to see her I'd had 8 recurrent mcs, she did some simple blood tests on my husband and I and the results showed that I had a blood disorder - anti phosphilipid syndrome which I knew absolutely nothing about and that I also had a chromosome abnormality which was resulting in early mcs which I also hadn't a clue about! Was told not to give up, stay positive and carry on as normal, easier said than done! I think I had one more mc after that and then had a ds, dd, 1 more miscarriage followed by another dd 2 years ago at age 40 (all conceived naturally). Had to take aspirin and heparin (blood thinning agent) daily for all 3. Good luck and I'm sure everything will be just fine x
