Yes, your consultant is a total moron. On so many, many levels! I'm so angry for you because he has put your life at risk from what you've said. I wouldn't say something like that, especially on a board like this to another angel-mummy.

Why exactly is my consultant a moron ?
How has he put my life at risk ????

confuddledDOTcom · 09/01/2012 09:33

The first thing that made me call him that was the suggestion that thrombophilia doesn't cause miscarriage - the blood is too thick to properly serve the baby, that should be easy enough for a consultant to understand. The other thing I noticed and maybe I'm making too big an assumption or misread in which case he's not putting you at risk but the way you said you take Aspirin in your pregnancies sounds like not all the time for the rest of your life. You're at higher risk of DVT, TIA, heart attack, stroke, pulmonary embolism etc

I know you said no clots but there wouldn't have to be, your blood is thicker than normal so it is sluggish getting around to the baby. If you think about water not flowing properly, it it gets stagnant, its not hard to see that blood not flowing properly will cause a problem, the placenta becomes inflamed which is the same as you see with an infection.

I'm sorry if I've sounded harsh, I've met so many doctors who don't understand these sorts of conditions that it makes me cross. I hope I've misunderstood your posts and I'm happy to apologise if so because I'd rather be wrong.

Confuddleddotcom You are talking out of your arse !

He never suggested that thrombophilia doesn't cause mc.

It did not cause my mc because there was evidence of a chronic infection - green puss, my pyrexia, microbiology results.

There is no treatment for the particular variant of Factor 5 Leiden - (heterozygous) that I have, apart from during pregnancy when you take asprin, and following the birth or any surgery where you take a 6 week course of sub cutaneous anticoagulants. I am also very aware of particular high risk situations such as flying when I wear support TED stockings etc.

The placenta becoming inflamed does not look like an infection. I am a scrub nurse and have seen both many times and up close.

Sorry Laura, for this to happen on your thread.

lemonsherbet · 11/01/2012 09:19

laura just wanted to say how sorry I am that you have been through 2 late miscarriages. I lost my little boy at 20 weeks and found it so hard. For you to go through it twice is so unfair. Just wanted to say I was thinking of you and your family.
