my sister is in hospital atm having a miscarriage

she was 12 weeks pregnant, i just phoned her and she is having labour pains and losing blood, but as its bank holiday the radiographers are not working and noone knows how to work the manual scan machine so she,s got to wait until tomorrow morning to find out.

Just feel so so sad for her, her and her boyfriend went shopping over the weekend and bought a whole new maternity wardrobe as they figured she was past the danger stage of m/c.

There's no point in being in the hospital, she should go home if she wants.

I was told, if you're going through more than one mega pad per hour, there's a problem and you need to be in the hospital, but generally, it will sort itself out.

Also, take cocodamol or whatever painkillers she wants.

I'm sorry to hear this, by the way. It doesn't necessarily mean anything bad - I had a 10-week m/c, DS1, 11-week m/c, DS2.

Seriously. If she's losing blood and having labour pains, she's probably miscarrying. But whether she is or isn't, there's nothing they can do!

The only thing that makes a difference if she's losing a lot of blood. But you really do have to be soaking through more than one big pad per hour for them to be concerned.

If she's happy in the hospital, then she should stay, but if she wants to come home, she should.

She has high blood pressure atm so i think thats another reason why, she phoned me an hour ago, she said that she felt pressure and needed to push and the midwive told her thats her body trying to get rid of something

She is still having pains and they have put her on strong pain killers now, also she hasnt had a scan so didnt know really how far she was, she thought over 12 weeks maybe 14weeks as her periods are irregular.

Just feel really sad for her, we will find out tomorrow what the situation is but its not looking good.

She had her scan this morning and they think the pregnancy is ectopic and thats whats causing the pain, she is having some tests done to confirm and if so she will have it and one of her tubes removed in the next couple of days.

Shes very upset but says that shes going to try again.

Sorry to hear about your sister jenk1, very sad. I had a late ectopic (11 weeks) a couple of years ago - it was a very difficult time, but ds2 was conceived a few month after trying again.

i just want to say im so sorry for your sister jenk, i really feel for you both my sister went through a traumatic ectopic and lost her baby after a lengthy ivf cycle. it was her first and she was devastated. not only that but it had a big effect on myself and our mum too. (((((hugs)))) to you, hope you all get through this difficult time the best way you can. xxxx

jenk1 - so so sorry to hear about your sister, i've had 2 miscarriages in the last 12 months and no matter how far along you are it is heartbreaking, she must be beside herself. All you can do is be there for her and give her the support she needs. There is no reason whys he won't go on to have a healthy pregnancy next time though and there are lots of website offering information for her once she's ready.

Jenk1 - why does this have to happen? Your poor sister. I hope it all gets sorted out. I can tell she has a lot of support in you and her BF, and thats what she needs right now. Be strong for her but make sure you deal with your own feeling too. Sending you and your sister much love xxxx

I'm really sorry to hear of this, I hope she's ok and has as much support as she needs, I hope you have support as well as it sounds as tho you're upset aswel. Sending you love and hugs, as wel as your sister and her BF

Well, they have let her go all week in pain as they werent sure that it was ectopic, now they dont think that it is but the scan shows the baby only grew to 6 weeks and isnt coming out so she,s been having labour pains since saturday and been given pain killers but this morning she is going down to theatre for a D&C.

Feel a bit annoyed as they have let it go on for a week.
