Just wanted to ask if there's anyone else out there going through something similar to me?

I'm 39 and have had my second m/c in 4 months. We have one DD who is 2 years old. I think I took my pregnancy for granted last time. We've been trying to conceive since May this year, and had my first m/c in June, just followed by my second m/c earlier this week. Both just under 6 weeks. Feeling gutted, not helped by the one this week happened whilst at work and with a colleague who found me crying in the loos saying 'at least you can get pregnant'. I know she was trying her best to help, but just wanted to say that I want to stay pregnant.

Neither occasion have I been to see the GP as I understand that they're not interested in anyone who miscarries at less than 6 weeks. Should I have go and see my GP?

Any success stories of ladies in their late thirties/early forties similar to mine?

Hiya knickyknocks... sorry to hear you're going through this. Your story sounds very similar to mine. I had ds (though it did take me 18 months to conceive him so not that part of it) and then a year later started trying for dc2 - I was actually 38 at the time. I had two mcs at 6-7 weeks almost back to back, one in Jan 08 and one in March 09. Both times I did go to the EPU to check the mcs were complete and there was no retained tissue which I know can cause infections. I find it a bit shocking that you think your GP isn't interested because your mcs were at less than 6 weeks. Why did you get this impression? Complications can still arise at 6 weeks.

Anyway, after my mcs a lovely mw at the EPU rang me up to confirm my second mc was complete and chatted to me for a good 45 minutes about possible causes. Of course I can never know but it was most likely to be age related, which is the most frustrating, because of course I can do nothing about my age.

There is a happy ending to my story, my last mc was in early March 09 and I was pg again by April. Dd was born on New Years Eve 09.

I think if there are no other complications and your mcs aren't connected to anything else and you can bear to try again it's worth it. It's a fact that at our age our eggs are not in peak condition, but I figured there had to be one decent one in there as I was still oving regularly and having regular periods.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
