Very early miscarriage, biological clock ticking and need to try again this month but don't know when I'll now ovulate

Hello ladies

I had very early miscarriage last Monday (4 weeks), 2 days before my AF would have been due. My cycle is like clockwork, 29 days and I always know when I'm ovulating (fell pg straight away with my DD and DS) and again this time so we are very lucky. Saw my GP who said I should wait a cycle before trying again. I will be 41 in October so time is against me and want to try again this month. I am just not sure when I'll now ovulate, would normally be between 10-14 days of my cycle, so I have bought an ovulation kit to help me get my dates right, just in case. Has anyone had a similar experience and then fallen pregnant on their next cycle? Many thanks in advance of any advice :)

Yes it happened to me, had a miscarriage though later on and ovulated 2 weeks later, resulting in dd. How do you know when you're ovulating? Because the signs will be the same. Otherwise you can just have sex every other day or every couple of days and this is enough. They only suggest waiting because it's easier to date the pregnancy. The OPK will detect a hormonal surge only, not actual ovulation but I understand why you'd like the reassurance.

I've had a couple of chemical pregnancies (where you bleed around the same time as your period's due but have an early bfp beforehand) and it's never affected ovulation, it still happens 12 days post bleed.

I'm sorry, it's such a miserable time.

showofhands - thank you for your advice, it's always good to 'talk' to someone who has been through a similar situation. It is a crappy time but at least it happened very early on for me, where you can bounce back that bit quicker. Onwards and upwards and keeping everything crossed for a bfp that sticks this month! x

Rosepip - same thing happened to me this month, horrible isn't it? Mine was a little later and I was told we could start tryng as soon as we were both ready which was basically a week later! Am hoping for a BFP this month.
At the EPU they said in most cases your body just treats first day of bleed as first day pf period but sometimes it can take a little longer for your body to get back to normal.

Hi farfallarocks - yes, it is horrible and just left me baffled really after 2 straightforward conceptions/pregnancies, though I was 30 and 34 having my 2 DC so am now that bit older (40, and fast heading to 41!) now so maybe that's why we have had this blip. There are ladies a lot worse off than me so I am trying to keep my glass half full and be positive that it still can happen. Good luck this month too! :)

It could be so many things, not that it stops me torturing myself with what ifs I grant you!
