12wks on Easter Sunday, started bleeding on saturday night. Mw made me an app at EPAS where a blighted ovum was diagnosed. I have strong period like pains but hardly any blood, just brown 'old blood' when I wipe. I was offered an erpc or tablets into the vagina to help things along. I am hoping things will happen naturally. I have a DD but this is my 3rd MC.

Yes i have had one, took 2 weeks from scan to actually fully miscarrying. I declined the pessaries and let nature deal with it. I have had 2 children since.
Hope soon sorts out for you. Best wishes for future pregnancies

How far along were you? I'm a bit worried about the pain and really just want it to happen so I can get on with my life.

I was just over 11 weeks ( well would have been) when I had the bad news scan. I had had numerous miscarriages before and did not find this one as painful or as long as the others.

I had bleeding that started at 11 weeks - exactly as described by the OP. After a few days of bed rest with things getting worse, I was sent for a scan where they saw the empty sac.

In those days, it was straight for an ERPC. I wasn't even allowed to go home to collect a nightie and toiletries.

It was very strightforward and I was discharged from hospital next morning. I was pregnant again within 3 months.

Me too :(
Luckily I was only about 7 weeks
Unluckily I got an infection in my womb and was pretty sick
I had erpc - wouldn't have waited even if there was an option.
Started ttc again 4 months later - wanted to fully recover as felt rubbish for months after due to the infection
Conceived dd2 in our second month of trying.
Hope you're as lucky and good luck x

I hope I can concieve again because it took us two years to get this far. My DD has got me through the last few days.

I have a 4 yr old DD and had no problems whatsoever with her. Last year I had 2 blighted ovums, the first I was kind of ok about and put it down to bad luck. The second one absolutely devastated me. With my first I had tablets to bring the miscarriage on and had tablets on the Friday and then had to go into hosp for the day on the following Monday. This was at 8 weeks. With my second it happened naturally at 6 weeks. I didn't find either overly painful, but I think I have a high pain threshold. Like you, both started with brown spotting which with me started at week 5, both times. I am now pregnant again but it it very early days. I started spotting even before AF was due but they put this down to me having a urine infection. I was reassured at the scan when there was a baby in the sac. There was hardly a sac, let alone a baby with my 2 miscarriages. I can't help but wonder if I had a UTI during my last 2 blighted ovums as they are an absolute mystery. I find it hard to accept that sometimes there are just no answers. With my second blighted ovum, once the pains started the bleeding soon followed. If you are concerned at all ring your EPAU just to put your mind at ease. Sorry you are going through this, it's heartbreaking. Take care X

Sorry you're going through this plumblusher. Like diddygirl I've also had 2 blighted ovums (ova?), with a dc in between (and 2 other mcs, which were earlier so may or may not have been the same). First time round (at 10 +3), I mc'd naturally. I started bleeding in the same way you describe on the Tuesday and mc'd on the Friday. I had completely underestimated how much would actually come away, naively thinking that, as there was no baby, it might not be so bad. I was shocked by the sheer volume of what came out and had to be admitted into hospital because of the heavy blood loss. They sorted me out though, and I came home the next day, but do be prepared for that if you do go the natural route. It was slightly painful but manageable with painkillers.

The second time I opted for an ERPC, because I wanted things over with much more quickly. (Unfortunately it actually took a long time to recover from because of retained products but that was just unlucky, I think).

Just one last thing - I had a strange sense of guilt at the grief that I felt the first time around. I felt that in some way I was a bit of fraud because there hadn't actually been a baby there. I also felt horribly tricked by my body. That was quite hard to deal with actually, and I really hope you don't feel like that.

Good luck with whatever option you choose. I hope it goes as well as it can. FWIW I got pregnant with my ds the first cycle after the mc.

Yes it's happened to me too Sad but only once thankfully, couldn't bear that again [hopefully?]

went for normal dating scan at 12+2 (or so I thought), had no bleeding, no loss of symptoms, no sign at all, but there was just a big empty space in the sac. I only now feel properly ready to ttc again.

I went for ERPC as it seemed to be the quickest and easiest option, just wanted to move on, but I was offered the option of leaving it until I had a natural. For me, my pg symptoms were so strong that it would have been really distressing to have left it for a long time, and given that I'd had no sign that my body was up to speed with what had happened, I wasn't happy just to leave it.

But you must do whatever you feel is best - so sorry you have to go through this and the best of luck for the future whenever you do decide to ttc again

take care x

Yes - I found that I had an empty sac in January when I started bleeding at 11 weeks :(

Was spotting on the Thursday, then got up to go to the loo in the night and had a lot of fresh blood. GPs suggested that I go to A&E where I had a scan and found the empty sac (there was a very small mas at the bottom of the sac bit nothing that resembled a baby. I wasnt offered any medical management, and was sent home, however it all started that eveing anyway.

The pain & the amount of blood completely took me by surprise, was getting regular contraction like pains every 5 minuites (pretty much to the second - I started timing them just so I could relax or sleep in between) which strong pain killers didnt even touch. I was constantly going to the loo to expel the blood or change the sodden pad - that lasted two days, but eased as quickly as it started.

On the Saturday eveing, the pain had stopped but was still bleeding fairly heavily, I had only just been to the loo to clean myself up, when I stood up from being sat on the sofa, and felt "something" coming down. I dashed to the loo again and felt something about the size and shape of a large hen's plop in to the loo - I beleive that was the main event.

After that, I bled for about 1 week, with light bleeding/spotting for a further week.

I;m sorry that you are going through this, and I hope it is as quick & easy as possible for you x

I was about 11weeks - had slight bleeding from week 5 - had scan - they couldn/t find anyting - told me to come back the following week - again they couldnt find anything (apart from an empty sac) was told to come back again for another scan - was told for sure at 9 weeks it was anemryonic pregnancy - sac but no embryo/fetole pole etc>>> was given option of waiting for nature or D&C -
i waited 2 weeks, but nothing happend - was very very stressful - as everytime i moved i thought this could be it & I was scared to leave the house in case it happened =- scared of being in pain - scared of passing clots etc....

eventually i went to hospital & requested d&c - 3 days later it was over. no pain, very light bleeding for about 10 days - no clots, no heavy bleeding, no pain -

I really wanted nature to do it's job & empty out natually - not to have anaesthetic & medical intervension etc.. but the waiting was a nightmare - i was soo so happy to have the d&c to finally be able to stop waiting & to be able to move on.

good luck

pixie

I'm now ten days in and still waiting to start to bleed properly. I've been offered a tablet and vaginal pessary but have to wait until the weekend for this-another four days. One midwife said it's better for your body to do it naturally, which yes I can understand, but as awful as it sounds,I just want it out so that I can move on.
