Found out today I've lost a twin - so worried now

Hi

This is the first time I've posted and its for advice. I had an emergency scan today (am 8+3) where I found out I have one healthy baby and one without a heartbeart. Apart from being very upset I am now panicking about losing the other baby. My last 2 pregnancies have ended in miscarriage at a very early stage. Am I worrying over nothing? I feel like I want to go to bed and stay there until after the 12 week mark.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Bronny

Bronny, I am so sorry you are going through this. I really don't have any advice, but just wanted to post. You must be so worried. If they found a heartbeat on one of your babies, and they've described it as healthy, it sounds promising though.

I'm so sorry for your loss but hope so much your healthy baby stays that way.
Xxx

Hi Bronny

A similar thing happened to me. I had some light bleeding when expecting dd which was worrying and upsetting, ended up having an early scan but everything was ok. When she was nine months old I had a miscarriage, then i got pregnant again about 3 months later and everything was ok until about 7/8 weeks, then some bleeding. I panicked thinking I was going to miscarry again, had an early scan and was told that I had probably lost a twin. I rested as much as I could (not that much considering I had a 13 month old dd) and the bleeding settled. I went on to have a normal pregnancy and had a healthy ds.

I really hope that you are able to rest and although it's easy to say, please try not to worry.

Keep us posted and let us know how you are. I'm sure others will post with reassurance and advice. I've dipped in and out of Mumsnet since dd was a baby (she is now 9 and a half) and have always found massive support, help, advice and reassurance.

Thank you all so much for your kind words and reassurance. It was a shock yesterday and I know my other baby is ok so I'm going to try and focus on that. I think panic with every twinge is to be expected for the next 3 weeks however, the fact that he or she has a good heartbeat should be reassuring.
