Hi ? I m/c at 7 weeks back in July. Although my periods returned in less than 4 wks, they are now shorter than they use to be and my luteal phase is now shorter at just 10days too. Does anyone know whether an early m/c would change a cycle like this? xx

Hello - sorry for your loss.

I had a MC at 9 weeks in Dec last year and found it took 3 months for my periods proper to come back (they were very short to begin with) and then a further 3 to get my luteal phase back to normal.

Hi KTDace, so sorry for your loss too. Thank you for your info as two different doctors have told me it takes 1-2months to get back to normal but that obviously isn't the case for everyone.

Tansy

I had a D&C at the end of August and since then I have had 3 periods. All 3 cycles have been different with some spotting and a shorter LP of around 7 days. I am using B6 and have got to 10DPO this month and spotting has started so will prob get AF at 11/12DPO so thats improved.

It's a real pain though. I am NOT TTC until I can see a more normal LP as I am pretty sure this had an part in my MC (LP was only 10 days before).

So I think it's normal for cycles to be a bit messed up and perhaps B6 may help...

Wakarimasen - thanks for your info and sorry about your loss. Out of interest are you just taking B6 by itself or is it a B complex?? And how many mg are the tablets??

I'm really sorry for your loss. That is hard enough to deal with without further problems. Not writing this to scare you, but my cycle has been completely buggered since my mc at 12 weeks in Oct 2009, so yes would be my answer to your question.

One thing I have learned about this is that mc and recovery is most definitely not a one size fits all process. If you're at all concerned, get to your GP and insist that they check you out. Very occasionally, things need a helping hand to get back to normal, though my experience has been a little unusual and I hope things regulate themselves very quickly for you.

You'd generally expect to be back to normal after about 3-6 months or so at the most.

I am sorry to hear that brokenbits. That is awful after a year. I hope your doctor is helping you get yours back on track. I think I may go down the acupuncture route, I am a bit sceptical but I have heard quite a lot of positive things about it sorting out menstrual cycles.

i take 100mg of B6 on its own but am changing to the complex this month.

Hi tansy I had a MC at 8 weeks and my cycles have been messed up ever since, although I seem to have the opposite problem to you that they are getting longer and longer (I'm up from 28 days to 37 now.......). I've started temping so that I can get some understanding of what's going on and I've also started acupuncture in the hope of getting things balanced out. I'm very sorry for your loss :( Fingers crossed your cycle will sort itself out very soon!

Tansy70 · 23/11/2010 17:22

Hey PinkFondant, really sorry about your MC - when did you mc?. I have found this whole MC rather shattering. There we were back in May getting excited to try to conceive. We got pregnant quickly but lost it just 3 weeks after finding out and now as the end of the year comes to a close, the excitement has just turned to worry, fear and anxiety about everything! Anyway, keep me updated about acupuncture and how it goes as I'm going to start it in December. The place I contacted said they love sorting out menstrual problems and are very confident in dealing with it. Fingers crossed for your cycle!

Oh no... I had a MC at 9 weeks, 6 weeks ago. I've been waiting for my AF to arrive because the doc said after my D&C that I'll be physically ready to TTC after that. That's all that's keeping me going with it all at the moment, so I was stupidly hoping that it'd all just be 'normal' straight away. Sigh...

I'm so sorry for everyone else who has been through all this, it's just horrid isn't it.

Tansy70 · 24/11/2010 12:48

Hey Knitter, most people go back to normal pretty quickly I gather, so I'm sure you'll be fine!! I just asked the original question to see if anyone else was in the same boat and it taking quite a while to get back to normal. Anyway, sorry about everything, it really is horrid. take care.
