early pregnancy and carrying on extra vitamin supplements started to stop miscarriage..

After an early miscarriage and a long time ttc I started taking the Zita West Vitafem and Vitafem Boost supplements as they contain higer doses of B vitamins, Vitamin D and Selenium - which I read could help with LPD or Progesterone problems which I thought I had.

I got my BFP today ~(very scared) and don't know how long I need to keep up with the supplements. I'm scared that it is something in the supplements which has helped and don't want to stop taking it.. However, the website suggests moving over to a pregnancy supplement which has lower levels of certain things in.

Does anyone have any experience of this??

Sorry guess I'm just very scared at the moment..

Hi toomuch congratulations on your BFP! Sorry, I don't have any experience but didn't want to leave your post unanswered, hopefully someone more useful than me will be along in a bit.

congratulations !

I think you should ring your GP, or if you have one, an early pregnancy unit and take their advice

Some high-dose vitamins are not recommended in pg

Good luck !

may be able to help, my sis is a nutritional therapist and recommends supplements and wot not to her patients - i will ask her to either give me some info if she can or post on here herself.

alot of the supplements in high dose that i am taking at the minute say dont take in pg, but some when recommended by a practitioner are ok... but i would speak directly to the person who advised you to take them..

That sounds like what i am taking B100 complex... to help the reproductive cells and hormones etc - the one i have says that you shouldnt take in pg or bf but i have been told to carry on should i be lucky enough to get a BFP

selenium and zinc are supposedly to help avoid miscarriage (i havent taken those, i just fill my DH full of them for his swimmers - although he doesnt know it!)

The reason i am on b100 complex is cos i have just MC and my sis put me straight onto them and very high dose of fish oil (omega 369) although why i couldnt tell you, i just rattle when i walk now Grin

dont know if that helps, but talk to your practitioner

Congratulations btw Grin

Thanks my gp isn't much help. I emailed zita west's online helpline and they said that if I was worried I could take them for the first trimester and then swap to normal vitamins so presumably that means there isn't anything bad in them.. They aren't mega doses of vitamins just higher than some of the other brands of prenatal vits.

Thanks fo the congrats anyfucker - its only just starting to sink in.. Hope it's sticky!!

Nicktersmum. If your sis says you should keep taking the b vits once pregnant that makes me think I should defo keep taking them till the placenta takes over at 12 weeks..

Thanks so much guys.
