Does anyone have any recent/personal experience (good and bad) of any of the following schools please? Our DC’s are not particularly academic but are very good at Music, Sport and Art.

Moor Park
Abberley Hall
Lucton School
Kings Worcester

Abberley is closing down.

Littlefish · 30/05/2023 21:42

I would choose RGS Worcester over Kings.

Thanks for this. Why RGS over Kings? Thank you

Or a little further away is Monmouth.

Have you ruled out winterfold? Excellent for music, supports them well in sport

Littlefish · 31/05/2023 09:16

I agree that Winterfold is wonderful. Nurturing. Incredible music.

Goes up to year 9.

We found RGS much more down to earth and friendly. Kings had quite an arrogance to it.

Lucton - very good for outdoorsy things. Wouldn't rate the nursery at all, actually quite awful, but the upper school is good. Lot of army families. Used to be many international students but that's changed post covid sadly.

What about Cathedral OP? I meet a lot of students from there and they seem very driven. Drama dept also goes above and beyond.

Buttercup230 · 31/05/2023 14:07

Thanks everyone. I didn’t realise the top two only went to age 13. Our children range between the ages of 5 and 13 so we are looking for a school that takes them from age 13 too so that they are at the same school or at least heading in the same direction. We are Ludlow based.

I have a friend with three dc at kings Worcester ( years 9,7 and 5) . Reasonably bright but not genius, 2 are v musical, one is quite sporty, two not. They all ready like it.

wigywhoo · 03/06/2023 18:16

Absolutely look at RGS - Kings' is very old fashioned and GCSE choices are quite limited.

Buttercup230 · 04/06/2023 09:51

Thank you! I’ve only heard negatives about Kings so far from other people too. Will def check out RGS.
