Job Share Teachers any experience or opinion

DD year 3. Just found out DD will have 2 teachers job sharing. Have you any experience of this? Was it a good thing or if not what were the disadvantages?

Hi Liitlewaltham. My DD1 had this arrangement a few years ago and it was brilliant. Both teachers were excellent and worked together as one. They planned work seamlessly and both had plenty of energy. Some parents were unhappy to begin with but soon realised we had two first class teachers who worked together effectively. To do this the school must give them overlap time on their contract.

The obvious negative is having poorly prepared teachers who do not communicate. However good teachers will communicate and my DD liked both her teachers but preferred the younger one! I would just make sure you are happy that the teachers can work together, that they are individually good teachers and that they tell you how they will operate weekly and how you contact them. It did not cause us any problems. They may also have individual strengths which can be a bonus .
