I have a four year old and went through the system of applying for a school place. I wish I had done my research. on a visit to the school I was bombarded with what I can only describe as window dressing by the school. I sat through the presentations; I was always unsure about sendung my son at yhe age of four when he has a full time place in a wonderful nursery. I was shocked to hear a big long speech for those in receipt of benefits encouraging all the other parents to complete the paperwork for free school meals even though every child is entitled to free school meals in September 2014. the school freely admitted that they get extra money for children of benefit claimants. listening to the speech and emphasis on the benefits I felt that I was the minority as I work. is this moral? I am disgusted at the school my son does not attract extra funding and I had to sit through a presentation that harped on the positives of claiming benefit for the school. I have decided that this is not the right school for him and he will stay in his nursery for another year. I am not rich or a snob but how can I send my son to a school that is only intetested in parents who are on benefits rather preaching the values of getting a decent education. I am very shocked and disappointed in this Catholic school. Am I the only one who has had this happen?
