Hormone cream for recurrent UTI's - experiences??

Asking for my Mum who has been suffering with UTI's (about 6 in as many months) which the GP tells her are due to menopausal changes.

What I want to know is if anyone found the cream helped with this problem (or other menopause related problems)? If so how quickly did it work? Also did you have any other side effects, such as period like cramps?

Thanks ladies.

Cream has helped my tetchy bladder- felt the effects over a few weeks.
No side effects- how old is your mum and how long since she was menopausal?

ps- assume you mean localised treatment- vaginal cream?

MustHaveaVeryShortMemory · 18/02/2010 16:11

Yes the vaginal cream, she will be 60 this year and its well over 10 years since her periods stopped. I thought the side effects of the menopause were temporary but it seems like they are ongoing at least for her.

Good to know you've seen some results. Although the cramps are a bit concerning.

So how often do you use it now?

it depends-hardly ever as I am also on HRT.
The usual "dose" is supposed to be once or twice a week. My Dr advises using before and after sex soyou might want to tell her that too.

Vaginal/bladder symptoms tend to/can continue after meno so she might need the cream long term.

purplepeony - thanks so much for your expertise! She seems to have really suffered with menopause symptoms - nice to hear other people have been through similar (if you know what I mean).
