Polyps in Womb + a existing Fibroid/Menopause

Hi all

5 years ago (approx) I had a ultrasound scan and a fibroid was found in my lower pelvis area, I am 48 years of age, I went through the menapause 12 years ago and have been on HRT now for 12 years
I am now being weened of it.

Unfortunatly this is causing problems, I was on a patch {fematrix 40} for a number off years and my new doctor she said this is to high a dose to be using and has now put me on a combination tablet Kliofem, which is lower than the I was on previosly on a the fematrix patch which had 1.25mg of estradiol in it, I took tablets to make me come on/blled every three months.

Today I had a ultrasound because since the change of HRT I keep having heavy bleeds and do not bleed, but have now had four heavy bleeds in 2 months of taking the new HRT.
She wanted to see why this was happening, the ultrasound showed

  1. The fibroid is still present (not sue yet if it may be bigger)

  2. I have a Polyp in my womb

There was a mention of the number 43 (think this may be the size of either the fibroid or the polyp)
will know more when I see the doctor again.
I ache down below, like a dim period ache, sometimes there is pains, sharp ones,
I have lower back pain, feel tired, nauseas from time to time.

The stanographer said that polyps make you bleed and this could be the culprit.

Is any body having or had the same expereince/s?
I am unsure what is going to happen.....

I suppose the polyp will have to be removed!!
I also see after googling it, they call polyps TUMORS........

Any comments appreciated, please?

cheers and thanks for listening

Annie

not sure what your question is, but didn't want you to go unanswered.

If you have a polyp it might be removed, if it is causing a lot of abnormal bleeding. Polyps don't always mean malignat, they are usually harmless.

Fibroids are quite normal- 50% of women have them. They can getbigger on HRT and cause more bleeding. They shrink after the meno so your might shrink if you come off HRT.

One other point- most drs say you should stay on HRT til 50 at least if you had a prem. meno, as 50 is the age of the usual meno- 48 seems a bit young to be coming off it.
