Okay - it's now been 10 months since I had a period ... and to date I have not produced a baby.
I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (without the cysts on the ovaries) at 35 and my cycle has always been irregular but my periods have not stopped apart from when pg.
This time last year I had a nervous breakdown (hideous, hideous time) so have been through alot of stress. My cycle was it's usual self throughout this time. Since the end of March though - nothing.
My GP keeps saying:
Polycystic ovarian syndrome
You're only 42 so it can't be the menopause
You've been through alot of stress.
I know all this but to have no periods for this long seems mad. I last saw her in November and am going back this month to see her again.
After 12 months does it automatically become the menopause?
If it is the menopause at 42 does it make me higher risk for osteoporosis? My Nan had this so I know it's not good to have.
When I look up perimenopause all the symptoms seem similar to what I have experienced in the last few years, fatigue, depression, irritibility, sleeplessness etc etc.
However, I have no other symptoms since my periods stopped BUT my acne which was always hideous and needed a daily tetracycline has noe cleared up - and I am no longer taking the tetracyclines.
Anyone knowledgeable about these things about?
