Losing time/ conflating dreams with reality perimenopause

Hello,

I have been struggling with peri for almost 2 years. I have been having episodes of lost time and severe memory issues. E.g last night I couldn’t remember how I got into bed and thought I had had a naughty dream. Turns out I had tried coming onto my partner, got upset when he said it wasn’t appropriate due to how I was then he found me on all 4s in my bathroom and carried me to bed. I then slept for 10 hours. I thought some of these were dreams, but things like this have happened on and off for 2 years and he’s had to follow me to bed at times so I don’t fall down the stairs.

In the week I accidently left the doors open and all the pets got out at night and he had to go get them.

At times I get so exhausted and it causes me to struggle with speech and thinking. I can then be fine for 2 weeks or so but when the episodes happen I don’t remember them clearly and it’s started to somewhat cause trauma for my partner, he’s starting to feel like my carer. I’m only 40. I’ve had loads of bloods done, just slightly high ldl and liver enzymes. I’m pushing for some neurological
stuff but when the episodes aren’t happening I am fine. No problems with movement, motor skills or speech apart from when I have an episode. Drs have also put me on a hormone pill. Partner has said if he finds me like that again he’s calling an ambulance.

Any other ladies gone through this?

Drs have also put me on a hormone pill.

Sorry to hear you're going through this.

I doesn't sound like a normal menopause.

You've clearly see your GP to get HRT.
Did you go to speak about menopause?

What type are you on, the dose , for how long and is it helping at all?
Do you have other signs or per i like flushes, irregular periods, etc.

I think your GP needs to refer you to a neurologist because this loss of memory and confusion is not at a normal level for peri.

Peri at 38 is also very early so you could also be referred to a menopause specialist( a gynaecologist) to check the HRT you are on is the right type and dose.

This in no way sounds like anything to do with menopause plus you're only 38.

It sounds like you get confused and disorientated and are a danger to yourself during these episodes. Also, the extreme tiredness is a concern because it usually indicates your body is working overtime to keep things going.

You really need to push for a neurological assessment ASAP before it progresses.

If your GP is ignoring this then next time it happens your partner should take you to A and E.

I'm surprised you've had these episodes for 2 years and not tried to find out the cause. How often does this happen? Is there a history of epilepsy or other neurological issues in your family? Have you had a head injury?
