Coming off HRT advice

I’ve been on two pumps of eostrogel for about 6 years, started getting loads more visual migraines so went down to one pump a few months ago, now have a lump in my breast which is tender after hot compresses and ibuprofen it’s getting much better. I think my hormones are surging again as night sweats are back and just think I should come off HRT and see how I am. How do I actually do it though? I’m 54 and periods had stopped a few years before HRT so about 8 years ago

You can just stop it if you wish to, especially as you’re already on a low dose. I’ve had to stop my HRT several times for various tests since I’ve been on it and I’ve just stopped it cold turkey and it’s been fine. I mean yes you do get the symptoms come back for a while but they do pass. I think you should get some advice before stopping though - you need the lump checked even if you think it’s a cyst, and you may not have to come off the HRT at all. You might need a different dose.

I’ve been to the doctor today and been given antibiotics and anti inflammatory and after one dose it’s better already been referred as well but just think I’ve had enough of HRT as it could be making my hormones worse

I just stopped.
as @Sparrowsandbudgies says, the symptoms that came back for me passed in a few months anyway and haven’t come back.

I stopped HRT cold turkey as I was struggling with Pms type symptoms. The hot flushes were extreme for a few weeks, but no other ill effects.
