Perimenopause - prolonged bleeding only around 2 weeks clear between episodes

Is anyone else the same? 18th June onwards my periods have changed, I use to be able to say each month when my next episode will begin. But since 18th June they have definitely changed - they are much longer with only around 2 weeks being clear. Is this normal for perimenopause?

I am currently still waiting to hear when I'm having an ultrasound scan.

18 June – 15 July: First bleed
16 days clear
1 August – 6 September: Second bleed
12–13 days clear
19 September: Very slight watering pink spotting
20 September: Definite blood when wiping — likely Day 1 of the new bleed
So I've only had about two weeks between each episode.

Sounds about right how old are you? If you are concerned a visit to your GP isn't unreasonable. Mine were all over the show for a few years I was really rubbish at tracking them so download an app to help.

You probably need a bit more progesterone. Consider a mirena. It’s very helpful. Best thing available tbh.

I had the same (erratic bleeding after being completely regular) and Mirena coil sorted me out. Eventually. Took a while but so worth it.

I had this starting from about 35. Had various tests although doctors wouldn’t entertain it being peri so refused to check hormones. I had scans and my thyroid checked.

I’ve now had Mirena for a year and it has reduced the volume of bleeding but not really the duration. I’m now 38 but may go back to the GP as beginning to suffer with other symptoms - low mood, anxiety, hot flushes and recurrent UTIs.

I’m on a 2-3 week cycle but the bleeding is only 4 days thankfully.

I started having this after being on hrt for 18 months , had a scan all ok. They increased my progesterone and touch wood hasn’t happened since. It’s likely that as you go through this things will need tweaking.
