Testosterone levels up on Tostran and GP wants me to reduce

I requested Testosterone in April. Managed to persuade GP to consider (by focussing on libido as that is what you have to say-but really keen to treat brain fog/energy levels/loss of muscle tone etc) and after a blood test reading of 0.5 they agreed. Tostran 1 pump every other day. My blood was tested again in July and level has gone up to 3.0.

GP now saying that I have to reduce to get the levels down to 1.5. I feel so much better in so many ways. Much more my old self. Cognitive improvement, libido, body much more toned and no drastic side effects. Bit more chin hair but I can live with that! What to do?

Anyone in a similar situation?
Advice would be much appreciated!😊

Did you remember not to use it on the day of test? Perhaps lay off it for a couple of days before the next test.

Why do you have to reduce it if no negative side effects?

I read something interesting that they've done a new study on testosterone levels in women and the original study only looked at about 84 women the new one gives you a range for the age you're at. Maybe go do s bit of research so you can be informed when you talk to the GP. Most of them are not menopause experts and don't understand the hormones well.

My baseline was 0.5, I started testogel and after 6 months my level had gone up to 4.2! No unpleasant side effects whatsoever. Had a chat with the GP who recommended retesting and stopping testogel for a day or 2 before the test. New level is 0.6! It seems to come down super fast when you stop for a couple of days

I would ask the GP for another blood test, and this time, don't use any T the day before.

Thanks both. Yes I follow Louise Newson and research quite a lot. I heard the same about that trial. I didn’t take any Tostran on the day of the blood test.
I agree-it seems that most women I know have to do their own homework as regards HRT.
I’m thinking of asking for a referral to the Menopause specialist at our local hospital. Perhaps she can help. Just wonder how long the wait is.
They have requested in the meantime that I reduce to one pump every third day, and then said that they would expect levels to be high even then. There was no acknowledgment of me saying that I felt much better.
All very frustrating!

Lottapianos-wow thanks. Re-read your message more thoroughly! That is really good news

What is your Free Androgen Index figure? If your SHBG is high your FAI might not be objectively high.

Good question. I must ask for a print out of the results,
