Skin becoming so reactive in perimenopause

I'm having symptoms out of the blue - red itchy blotches on face, dry red itchy swollen eyelids, swollen irritated lips, rash on collarbone. All started 2 days ago - no obvious allergy trigger. Feeling v stressed due to imminent bereavement.

Saw GP today and have started 5 days course of steroids. Had exactly the same symptoms and treatment almost a year ago. Cleared everything right up last time. Again, no obvious trigger - no new food / drink / meds / products. So confused, and seriously bloody itchy!

I'm perimenopausal and on HRT. Has anyone had similar weird skin reactions in peri?

Yes!
Am now menopausal and can no longer wear perfume at all...causes awful dermatitis...after wearing it every day since I was 13 😞
I used to be able to use any skincare but now can only use la roche posay.
I had scalp folliculitis, too.
Patches of excema on my hands...
It's horrible 😞

It's so frustrating. I have no idea if these reactions I'm having are hormonal or stress related or something else. No obvious allergy trigger either time. Going to stick rigidly to skincare products that I know my skin is fine with for now. I need a new cleanser and La Roche Posay is a good shout actually 👍

I had the same! Patches of eczema on my face with swollen, sore, flakey eyelids during the early summer. Like nothing I have had before. Strong prescribed antihistamines and eczema ointment from GP and switched to Aveeno moisturiser as skin can't handle anything stronger anymore.

Me too, I now have to be very careful of anything skin related. I wear rubber gloves for food prep as I’ve developed a sensitivity to nightshades. I am also sensitive to lanolin so have to be careful with hand creams. I have never been able to use highly perfumed moisturiser.
Stress makes everything worse so I don’t think it is either/or but a combination of stress and menopause
