Before menopause I had horrendous periods and I was pretty certain I had a fibroid, but the Mirena coil sorted that.
Menopause came along I got a new Mirena, have 2 pumps of oestrogen gel a day and vaginal oestrogen twice a week. Brain fog gone, urinary incontinence gone, vaginal itching gone and nearly all muscle pain gone.
Then about a month ago I began to get vaginal bleeding again intermittent not related to anything.
I had my scan and I have a medium sized fibroid ( probably means it was large before menopause) sitting right next to my coil. Currently NICE guidelines are that you get a scan to assess endometrium, but if you have a coil they can’t assess the endometrium so the ultrasonographer explained I will be on two week pathway to gynaecology, but not worry it’s standard.
I was wondering what treatment anyone has had for a medium sized fibroid in menopause - honestly I have wanted rid of my uterus for years it has been troublesome all my life so my ideal would be a hysterectomy. But from what I read they are probably going to tinker about with HRT which I really don’t want as I feel it is right and at the moment professionally I am smashing it and I don’t want to get brain fog again at this particular point in my career - I may have a point to prove and not want it messed up.
