Sore boobs

I have incessantly sore boobs on HRT, I've sort of got used to it but actually it's really horrible. Is it normal ? It fluctuates a bit, worse around my periods, but they are always a bit sore. It seems to be particularly the right hand side of my right boob.

I'm 42, on quite a lot of HRT - 100mg evorel patches, 1 pump estrogel & 200mg utrogestan daily. The continuous utrogestan is migraine related.

I've been on this for a year or so, but only added the gel 6 months ago.

I understand sore boobs as a temporary side effect, but I've been on it a long time now. I wasn't sure if it's normal as a long term side effect ?

Sore breasts are usually a dignity of too much oestrogen. Why are you on such a high dose of oestrogen and progesterone? It's roughly double a standard dose.

Im not really sure how I ended up on so much..that was how much I needed to be able to sleep past 3am !

I went up very slowly over a year or so, stopped when symptoms reduced.

The high dose of utrogestan is because it keeps my migraines under control. They were worse on sequential utrogestan, I also feel better generally on a continuous dose.

Maybe it is too much estrogen, I dread the thought of reducing it and stopping sleeping again though !

My boobs were incredibly sore, felt huge and taking my bra off at night was agony . I think it’s to do with the balance between the oestrogen and progesterone. I decreased my oestrogen a bit and the pain resolved.

Hi op. I had horrifically sore breasts when I used utrogestan.

Stopped within a month of having a mirena coil fitted.

I had sore breasts for a fortnight each month my whole adult life running up to period. So it's a blessed relief to no longer have this issue on HRT.

Hi! I too had this problem on the exact same HRT as OP and I came off everything and went completely cold turkey! I found it improved straight away but over time my menopause symptoms flared up again so am considering a coil as I have been getting painful heavy bleeding which hasn't lasted long but is pretty bad. I'm 54 so no idea why I'm still bleeding. Anyway I hope you have managed to get this sorted op?

ive have developed constant very sore boobs without being on any HRT im 48. for around the last 4 months or so they have been sore and very tender to touch. is this normal without being on HRT. they have always been tender in the few days the run up to my periods but this is going on for months.

It has actually randomly stopped... But I've also had quite bad hot flushes recently, so I think perhaps it's linked to estrogen fluctuations?

Someone mentioned they had sore boobs without HRT - it's a good point that I think it did actually start before I was on HRT.

Urghhhh. Bloody menopause!
