Period every two weeks?

So I was about to have my blood done almost 5 years ago, due to peri symptoms. I then found out I was pregnant with my little surprise baby. Now baby is 4, and my symptoms seems through the roof. My DD 12 recently started her first period, two weeks ago. I then got mine a day later.

I seem to be getting one every two weeks, the first is a blood bath for two days, th second is very light spotting for 4 or 5 days.

I still haven't had my bloods done. Busy life, SEN kids, ADHD me.

The anger I feel every night around bed time, when I am sweating and feel like I am on fore inside is too much to deal with at times.

I know I need to get my bloods done . but is this normal? I don't have a mum, or any close female relatives I can ask. My mother got menopause very young. So none of my similar aged friends are experiencing this.

Thanks in advance! (I hope!)

When I was in my late 40s, early 50s my periods were all over the place, often about two weeks apart. Sometimes very heavy - the blood bath (meaning I was using night time pads which weren't enough) - sometimes spotting. No real consistency.

For reassurance, do go and see your GP.

HRT did help, but it took a while.

Thank you, I'm 39. My mum was perimenopausal at 34, so I definitely think I'm there.

I need to get a blood test, but with ADHD and SEN kids, it's so hard booking it.

Thank you for sharing your experience

I know that one of my great-grannies was late to go through the change - she had her last child the same time as my grandmother had her first - so maybe I took after her.

I'll just add that when I experienced it, I recall my husband saying "But you've just had a period!" at one point.

I think I ever so slightly exploded in temper...

I worked in a school and had great difficulty, I recall. I was having to run out of class at the end of a lesson.

Sorry not to be a lot of help, but I'd no idea what it was like until I went through it. It was something that women rarely discussed at that time for some strange reason.

One of the other women at work was in her 50s and it was so bad for her that she was having to stay off work. She finished up having an ablation and said that it was the best thing she'd ever done.

She was quite open about it which was why I felt able to ask her about her ablation. I was thinking of asking my doctor if I could possibly have one, but the HRT finally sorted it out for me.
