Could this motion sickness feeling be related to perimenopause?

I'm 45 and pretty sure I'm in the perimenopause although periods are still regular (but heavier). For the last month or so I've been feeling a type of nausea that is like motion sickness. It comes and goes and I never feel like I'm actually going to be sick but it is a really bleugh feeling , inside my ears feels heavy, hard to explain what I mean. I will see GP but just wondered if this could be perimenopause related?

Think it’s more likely to be ear related.

My ears have been affected with peri, starting HRT this week

Sounds more like labrynthitis, off to the doctor …

Might be BPPD
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) - NHS Lanarkshire https://share.google/GNtjUSlqemsvtkWeG
Worth looking up the Epley manoeuvre on YouTube and giving it a try.
Do think it's more likely to be an ear issue, especially if you are feeling a fullness there.

I'm 43 and have horrible bouts of unexplained nausea, sometimes along with dizziness but not always. I have other hormonal symptoms like breast soreness and irregular periods, so am making the connection to that. But have ordered a home FSH test kit.

I’ve had similar experiences in the last few years (mid-40s).

Before I started HRT at 43 I would get pre-menstrual dizziness - the GP currently thinks this is vestibular migraine. I don’t get it so often now, only very occasionally. However I have found the Epley manoeuvre helps so I think that at least sometimes it’s BPPV and not VM.

About a year ago I was getting bad vertigo. I remember sitting up in the Starbucks in the Bullring in Birmingham and the view down into the shopping centre gave me that motion sickness feeling (I do get motion sickness anyway). GP started me on utrogestan after that and I’ve felt much better since.

But like @FlossySamI’ve also had short intense nausea too. It was particularly bad mid morning a couple of summers ago (I was doing intermittent fasting at the time, thought it was that so started eating breakfast again and it resolved), and had it again yesterday (early though, before breakfast).

Point being, I get this in a variety of ways, some has responded to HRT, some comes and goes as I move through this hormonal rollercoaster. (I’ve had other weird stuff that seems to last about 3 months and then goes away again). I guess if you’ve got a sensitive vestibular system it could be affected by fluctuating hormones in a variety of ways.

@Quickchantit could well be hormonal. Try some HRT and see if it improves?

FWIW I don’t think you need a hormonal test. Hormones fluctuate by the hour at this stage of life, so a test might not catch the hormones at any level that tells a story.

I think the current menopause guidelines say to go by symptoms.
