Can FSH be normal and still suggest perimenopause at 41?

Can FSH be normal, and still be in peri? I am 41 and my FSH came back under 14 which is normal, but my estradiol was borderliine (310 and should be under 275) - have GP appointment to discuss but my periods have been horrible since a miscarriage in April which ended in D and C, and I feel like something is wrong. I have also have really painful ovulations the past few months, like it actually really hurts and I suspect my body is just chucking out lots of eggs at random. Could this be the case? My day 21 progesterone was 55.

I am sorry to read about your miscarriage and your difficult symptoms. When in your cycle were these taken? Hormones fluctuate a lot, not least in perimenopause. I am not familiar with estradiol being used with a specific cutoff in perimenopause; I thought it was considered unreliable for this purpose.

You could be in perimenopause but there are other differentials there, especially in the wake of D&C.

have you had your GP review yet?
