Anyone fancy a Friday meno moan?

Anyone fancy a moan?

I'm nearly 4yrs into very brilliant HRT. I have a mirena for progesterone.

The last two days my stomach has been so bloated, I've felt nausous and really tearful. I spent days trying to work out what I've eaten that has made my stomach so bad. Then I go for a wee last night and I'm bleeding.

I then spent the night having the most horrendous period cramps and this morning I'm totally exhausted.

I just want it to stop! I have a period periodically, anywhere from monthly to 6 months apart and the cramps are so bad. Barely any blood these days because of the mirena, but textbook cramping, gurgling, bloating and emotional roller coaster.

Will it never end?!

I'll be fine tomorrow but right now I'd quite like to know how it feels to be a man.

That all sounds shit. How are you feeling now?

Autumnallaround · 12/09/2026 07:37

@TheSpottedZebra much better thanks 😊

Nothing like a large glass of red wine, two ibuprofen and a good night's sleep.

I just wish I was one of the women who didn't have cramps or periods with a Mirena. And that my ovaries would bugger off and stop ovulating. And my uterus would retire.

I’m also bleeding with horrible cramps at the moment! I’ve been on continuous hrt for over 6 months and haven’t noticed many benefits. Seriously thinking about stopping it completely. I’d been period free for 2 years prior to starting and it’s horrible bleeding again

Autumnallaround · 12/09/2026 08:46

@NooNakedJacuzziness that's awful. So you were on cyclical HRT before?

No @Autumnallaround, I’ve only ever been on continuous. I mainly started it as I had bad joint pain but I’ve still got joint pain just with added period cramps every 5 weeks or so! The only thing that’s possibly improved is menstrual migraine but I think I’ll just have to put up with that. You have my sympathies, it’s no fun

Autumnallaround · 12/09/2026 09:08

Oh that really sucks. I love the HRT, my issue is just the fact that my cycle won't give up and die.

Have you tried asking GP if you can change the regimen to help? More progesterone or oestrogen?

Not yet, she was suggesting the coil but not sure I want to go down that route

Well, apart from the fact that I still ovulate with mine unlike most women who use one, mine has saved me and I can't recomend it more highly. Contraception and endometrial control in one tiny device, with zero side effects.

I’m creaky, fat, and suffering from vertigo. I would self soothe with wine but I can no longer have more than a glass or I’ll wake up the next day with a hangover and vertigo. Just great thanks 🙄

I have to see an ultrasound specialist today at the hospital as been getting unexplained bleeding whilst on HRT oestrogen and HRT spray. Hope everything is ok.

I feel your pain OP. Luckily I saw a great female GP at my surgery last week who’s very supportive and understanding. The men doctors GPs at same surgery, sorry, they’re well meaning but they have no idea.

My periods went at 48/49 and I was like hurrah! Then this year I switched from Evorel Conti patches to spray and oestrogen tablets. Got bleeding after that. Wish I’d never switched. But didn’t like residue on skin after I took patches off.

@VenusThighTrap me too. Last night's wine was a singular glass but goodness it hit the spot. Sucks not to be able to drink so much!

I mean better for health and cholesterol and activity levels etc.... But still.

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain oh I'm so sorry for you!

I can't see the residue as I always put them on my bottom, so it's not an issue really. I don't think DH really cares and the only other people who see them are the lifeguards when I walk into the pool!

Thank you. At least it’s getting checked out. I freaked when I saw blood. Thought it was old anal fissure wound reopening but it’s not. Happened on and off past 2-3 months. Kinda like light period. Luckily I’d kept spare pads just in case.
