Menopause rage

Does anyone have intense rage?
I’ve just switched to Estrodot due to the cost of Estrogel. I use a patch and 1 pump of gel.
I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting used to it still.
I am angry at everything and everyone at the tiniest inconvenience.
Yesterday I was wishing all bad things about a woman who pushed in front of me at a till in Lidl. I had actual visions of running her over with my trolley, I was fuming!
Tell me I’m not alone.

I’m totally with you on this in fact I just sat here telling my partner of another one of my annoyances of the day and then reflected and thought crikey I do seem to get sick of listening to myself but I can’t help it! Queues, people, poor service, non courteous drivers anything does it … I’m on progesterone and lenzetto spray not sure if it makes a jots worth of difference

Mine was epic! I never felt rage like it. Daily high-dose evening primrose oil seems to have sorted it out.

My grandmother had it as well - there’s a famous family story about how the police were called when she shouted at and tried to upend the stall of a market trader who had sold her rotten tomatoes (picking from the back, not the nice ones displayed upfront.)

Yes, I find myself offloading to my partner so much more, I feel I’m turning into an insufferable old lady.

Oh god! I have very clear visions of doing stuff like this. I bet it feels amazing, in the moment.

Sounds like you need to increase your oestrogen dose. 1 pump per day is a starter dose and most women need to increase to 2 or more. Speak to your prescribed

I have worked my way up to 4 pumps and haven't felt the rage for a long time. All other symptoms feeling much better also

Just reduced my oestrogen due to side effects and the rage is returning!

I knew I was menopausal when the rage started. I would go from 0 to 100 in seconds, and I would clamp my jaw so hard with rage I am surprised I didn't break a tooth.

Since being on HRT though it has gone, and I am back to my normal, quite sedate, nature. I think your HRT needs a tweek.

I was on 5 pumps per day but now I take a 100 patch with 1 pump of gel, so a high dose, I think I’m getting used to the patch because I haven’t felt rage like this before.

I sent a ranty text to my older friend the other day. I was sooooo angry at nothing and had to vent.
She replied 'have you considered hrt?'.
I laughed!
But I am!

Ah I see. Definitely give it time - can take up to 12 weeks for any new dose to settle

I know this may sound crazy but just be so careful with how you deploy it! I had a friend of 25 years go off on me last year, it was really truly awful (and not framed in anything I’d ‘done’, sadly it was more ethno/bigotry based, I had NO idea she even held those views and could have sworn a few years ago she didn’t), anyway it just felt like a tsunami of rage I was caught in, we can never go back and it has imploded our friendship group. She has had some illness and is now on boatloads of HRT. I felt at the time it was like this mad overwhelming hormonal rage but there was nothing I could do to stop it. I wish her nothing but well but could never be in the same room as her again. It has been heartbreaking tbh.

I mean I think I have had the same rage but I try to deploy it in gardening, give those brambles hell etc.

Oh no! What side effects did it give you?

These patches aren’t as goid but I can no longer afford the gel.

I do a lot of crafting to calm me down, so I now have piles of stuff I’ve made.

Yes me too I find anything like that very calming.

It was really a massive shame as well, there was alcohol involved and she was so, so ANGRY (but not with something I specifically had done which I would have understood, might not have agreed with no but could have got my head around). I wouldn’t be so patronising as to say for 100% that it was hormonal/menopausal, but it sort of fit all the criteria for that mad overwhelming fury that just sort of comes out of nowhere. Who knows, but it really broke my heart.

You’re not alone. I wished horrible things on my neighbours yesterday. My DH laughed at it and said “listen to you”. That made me chuckle. Sometimes it’s just nice to deliver imaginary throat punches.

I used to scare myself. I knew I was either going to kill someone else or myself as my anger was so intense and woukf come from no where.

Personally, I didn't absorb patches or gel and ended up on oral estrogen. Its perceived negatively but in all honesty, it saved me!

@Autumnbeaches fortunately my friend is also experiencing the same so we offload to each other.

@TeaIsLovely I had visions of slapping a family member the other day. I would never do it but this family member is particularly irritating.

And why pay for hrt, isn't it free on the NHS?

@MummyOre I am okay with the gel but I have to pay privately, the price is now £23.99 per bottle, but the patches last longer.
I know what you mean, it’s instantaneous for me and it can be something so small.

I have never known rage like it. My GP was reluctant prescriber, but I decided enough was enough when I found myself rowing with all the dirty town men, and was a bit more assertive with gp about the need for hrt.
I bloody love my patches, life is far more chill.

@KayFabe I’m hoping I get used to this Estradot patch. It’s so much more convenient than gel and cheaper.
This rage is a newer symptom for me, I didn’t have it on the gel.
