Could vaginal oestrogen help with bladder pressure and discomfort in menopause?

Hi,
I have had a UTI for 2 weeks - 3 lots of antibiotics and they haven't done much. I have a very full, uncomfortable bladder , especially at night and have to go to the loo every hour, so very tired. Also, my vagina feels uncomfortable and has pressure on it constantly. Has vaginal estrogen helped people with this? I cant take HRT. I have never had a UTI before.

My night time toilet visits have increased again lately so I will be back on the estriol cream as it's previously been helpful.

There's quite a bit of evidence that for recurrent UTIs it's a good treatment.

I needed to hear that. Now to persuade my GP.

It’s commonly prescribed as treatment for interstitial cystitis. I have had IC for 30 years and I advise in a forum for it (9K members) and it’s one of the things people say helps the most. It’s very important that it’s the cream rather than pessaries though as the pessaries aren’t absorbed as easily and can actually cause bladder irritation. The cream (estriol or Ovestin) can be used internally with the applicator and externally as well. It’s made a huge difference to me and many others. (I also take amitriptyline. I was on antibiotics for 30 years for IC and recurrent UTIs but was able to come off them after trying vaginal oestrogen and amitriptyline).

Estriol cream 100 per cent.

I had what I thought was UTI with a new partner who was b on the large side.
Doc prescribed Vagifem, not antibiotics as I was expecting.
Fixed it.
