Joint Pain

Hi all,

Pretty sure I'm entering peri-meno.
My cycles have always been short, but my most recent one was 24 days (and I'm on for about a week, so only had 17 days grace between last one finishing and this one starting)

My question is...any tips to relieve joint pain?

I suspect I have PMDD as a lot of my symptoms match.
The joint pain is pretty extreme. It's widespread, but the worst place is my hips.
I have a really high pain threshold (I know this from my labours) but they feel so sore and stiff that it's making me want to cry.

I don't know how to relieve it apart from pain relief.

I know it will ease but cycle day 2-3 seems to be awful!!

Personally I'd rather try holistic methods ..if anyone can recommend herbal supplments or teas/creams etc would be ideal, thanks.

Hi I'm definitely in perimenopause. I'm taking multi vitamin supplements along with glucosamine and chondroitin (like fish oils) I think this helps with my energy levels and my creaky joints. I'm also trying do more gentle exercise like tai chi as I find I stiffen more quickly and regular gentle movement stops that. Hope this helps you.

Hi,
Some people take glucosamine, chondroitin or turmeric for their joints. I’m currently taking omega 3s, and my friend takes turmeric, which seems to be helping with her joint pain. It can take a while to notice a difference. They may help, but they don’t work for everyone.

I agree - gentle exercise is good. Don’t put too much strain on your joints, and try not to stay in one position for too long, as your joints and muscles can get stiff.

I’m still going through perimenopause, and I didn’t expect to have so many symptoms because my friends sailed through it.
