I've been on Sertraline for a few years, I really want to come off it because of the sweating and general mehness. I started Estrogel a few weeks ago and I feel so much better about things, I really want to stop taking antidepressants if possible. Has anyone done this recently? I was on 150mg, I'm now down to 100mg and two pumps of Estrogel currently. If you did manage it, did you find you had to go back on the Sertraline eventually or is all good still? I've been on and off antidepressants for years and didn't know if I just have a serotonin imbalance or not. Thanks.

I am in the exact position so am following for info. I have a gp appointment next week to discuss. I am on a much lower dose of sertraline but from what I have read you taper the dose gradually when coming off.

Yeah that's what I'm doing, I'll be on 100mg for a couple of months and then go down to 75mg and repeat. Hopefully replying will give this a little bump

I’m slow tapering of paroxetine after five years on it.

Going VERY slowly so I don’t give myself any curveballs. Over six months I’m down from 2x20 tables to three quarters of one tablet. If they still do the liquid drops version when I’m ready for the next phase I’ll take half a tablet, and four drops. Lowering by one drop every couple of weeks based on how things are going. Aiming to be on drops only by next Spring. If they no longer offer the drops I’ll use the water taper method.

I’m surprised at how easy it has been. Had a few very dark blue days but upped to one and half sachets of Sandrena (from one) and since then aside from the occasional bit of vertigo it’s been fine.

Paroxetine has a really bad rep for being a git to come off. It was a like a bloody miracle happened in my head when I went on it, so I’ll take the potentially rough today for the smooth it gave me when I needed it the most. But I want give myself the best chance possible so I’m tapering myself off at a much slower rate than a GP would be on board with, and then will just tell her when I’ve eventually weaned off entirely and no longer need the prescription.
